Highlands's CI journey

I saw a 70 year old man with a CI at my CI clinic a few months ago.

Yes I saw some people between 50 and 70 years old with CI, too... This is their decision. They decided to have CI between few months and years ago.

BTW, what would the lifetime of an implant itself be ? I read somewhere ,it may be 70 years ?

Technically speaking, they can literally last a lifetime. That being said, if you get one say under 30, then one is likely to get some form of new and improved implant in the future. I got mine at 47 and my audi mentioned that I could/probably would get a new one in my sixties just to take advantage of technology.

Yeah my surgeon did say that in about twenty years or so, it might be possible that I have to have surgery again to take advantage of a later generation device or implant. Who knows what will be around then?

couldn't post anything new here due to job issues.. :( we're trying to make the bills of the hospital ready in time for delivering.. plus,we have started to send bills via the internet rather than loads of paper.. :)

so my slow journey will go on next week :)

most CI manufacturers have warranty that is good for 10 yrs but they designed them to last longer than that probably for life.

Yeah, kind of like our refrigerators and some gassy lawnmowers, lol.

I hope my CI lasts longer than my refrigerator. I just replaced it after only 5 years as it was falling apart and misbehaving. My petrol mower (same as gas mower?) is still going fine though :)

Unless, I'm mistaken I think you Brits and Assies call gas petrol so yeah I'd say it's the same as the gas mower.

LOL!! oh man that was a good fuunny :hyper:

That one was worse then when I went in my first HLAA chat and there was a screen name there by the name of Boots, I misspelled and said Boobs....

No one has forgotten me since.... :D

Highlands,

Good luck with your CI Journey. Just remember Patience, Practice and persistence!
