Ok, I'm in fantasy world. I know I'll probably never see $10 million in my life time, but it's fun to dream.
Let's say you get offered to play football in 2 different places. You've offers of 3 years for $30 million or 3 years for $25 million.
People will just look and think, $30 million is better than $25 million. I'll take $30 million.
Now, let's see, the 3 year $25 million contract has no voids and is fully guaranteed for the 3 years.
The 3 year $30 million contract may work out as:
Year 1: $6 million
Year 2: $9 million
Year 3 $15 million
Now, the contract can be voided after 2 years at team discretion. So the team would decide to void your contract after 2 years.
So now you thought you would prefer 3 years for $30 million over 3 years for $25 million.
and you end up with only $15 million after 2 years after all is said and done for. That is why it's very important to read contracts.
