Hi everyone! My name is Jessica. I'm from Missouri. I am hearing.
There are no colleges in my area that offer a decent course in ASL so I will be attending some online courses beginning in September of this year. I have some basic vocabulary down from a beginner's course I took last year. I've wanted to be an interpreter for most of my life and cannot wait to start. There is a huge need in our local public school and I hope to fill that void soon.
I wanted to introduce myself here and get to know some of you. As my studies progress I will be setting up some webcam chats with other interpreters and hoh/deaf so that my communication skills will be the best I can offer.
Hope you all have a great day!

Hello

Welcome, Jessica! I'm new here as well. My name is Markie. It's nice to meet you! We can be friends and get to know each other! Maybe I can help you practice sign language or something! Feel free to write back. Have a great day!

University of Missouri-Columbia has a good ASL course.
Columbia College in Columbia, MO has a good ASL course.
Stephens College in Columbia, MO has a so-so ASL course.
Williams Woods College in Fulton, MO has ASL courses.

I'm not sure where else in Missouri, but I used to live in Columbia and knew about those, but could not afford it.

Thanks for the welcome! I can't wait to start studying, also. It's always been a dream and like I said there is a huge need in my area. It's just been slow going to get started!
