xspinning, you wrote a very wise thing.....I think you will make a great mentor wherever you go
Also,
for your ideas....I am no longer in college, graduated w/B.A. in Sociology and Spanish in '95. Worked initially with adults w/dementia and then was Case Manager for some some time working w/adults with cognitive disabilities, with autism spectrum, CP., etc. I have math-related LD which was diagnosed in '90 after continuously failing remedial college math and was getting tired of not knowing why I was having difficulty with reading clocks and figuring out my bank account. I had many accommodations in college - special math calculator, untimed/separate testing for math classes, advance registration, access to special tutors and a math class for students with LD, access to other things if needed through Disabled Student Services Office. I was also a reader through same office for people with dyslexia, and I tutored international students in English classes. In college is where I met husband who is oral deaf, wears BTE HA's.
Still have difficulty w/"left" and "right", oral/multiple instructions, money, measurements < don't know 'em>, telling time, much math, etc.
How did you end up being math tutor?
