Hi, Im new to AllDeaf....I want to say thank you for letting me learn and continue learn your beautiful language. I respect you and wish.. some how I could communicate with [you]. I need practice; I dont see my HOH friend very often or my gf who is deaf. It is so liberating "talking through my hands, and reading words formed by a persons hands. I live in Chicago and vicinity...anyone out there looking for a person to "chat" and to teach ASL.
:(( unfortunately, my ASL teacher in college is a horrible teacher. She shows us signs or shows us some ASL syntax but most of the time...she says, " oh, I dont know how you would sign this or that sentence; I'll look it up and get back to [you]." The kicker is she never gets back to us. And she always tell us the ASL can be wrong...its...well...frustrating when I truly love sign language. I really focus and try to find all the resources I can to teach myself. But, ultimately, I need to be immersed in the Deaf culture. Well nice to meet you.....Im so happy to be here...*hugs*

There are lots of ASL classes in Chicago. Why don't you just go to a different teacher?
