Hi My name is Mary and I live in Virginia. I work with developmentally disabled adults and some happen to be deaf, mute or deaf and mute. I am trying to learn about the culuture of the deaf community as one of my last
(hopefully) classes in completing a Master's degree in Counseling. If anyone would like to share their experiences with me, I would be very grateful. I even have a list of questions if you would like to see them.

I developed this independent study because through the years several deaf people have touched my life in many positive ways that I've always wanted understand their perspectives. Now that I am working in the counseling field and working toward licensure as an LPC in Virginia, I would especially like to know more about the deaf culture.

Anyway, if you want to know the questions and if you choose to provide input, I will assume it is okay to discuss your information in a paper I will discuss with my instructor but only by identifying persons as person #1, person #2, etc. Also, I've been reading "When the Mind Hears - A History of the Deaf by Harlan Lane. It's not a Patricia Cornwell novel but has provided much valuable information an the evolution of deaf education.

I have to leave for another class now but look forward to hearing your ideas, questions, concerns and words of advise regarding this.
Any assistance that you can provide is greatly appreciated.

Blessings and Peace!
