Hi all
I am a student studying a Child and Families programme at University completeing a dissertation.
I have designed a questionnaire to help me prove or reject part my hypothesis:“Does failure in the attachment and bonding process between a deaf child and their parents have a negative effect on the child's socio-emotional development?”

I would appreciate it if anyone woild like to take the time to complete this questionnare on a site called survey monkey, the link is below.

There are no names or anything needed there is only simply 7 yes/no questions

Thank you

Link: Barriers to bonding between a deaf child and their parents Survey

The survey does not take into account if the parent answering the questions is Deaf, deaf, hearing, etc. --what communication methods are used (sign language, aural training, etc), and a host of other VERY important base-information questions.

I can't help but think you will use the answers to this survey for some sort of biased hypothesis.

Wirelessly posted (droid)

This premise is inherently flawed. Let me guess, some one who is not a mother designed this study. I wonder if she has even observed a mother and nursing newborn before. ????

Have to agree, this survey is too vague. Hearing parents? Deaf parents? Deaf mainstreamed child? deaf signing child? Institutionally educated deaf child? Single parent? Two parent household? Deaf but oral parents? Hearing but uses ASL only parents? Parents of a deaf implanted child? parents of a deaf hearing aid wearing child? parents of stone cold deaf child who uses no auditive technology?

These are all very relevant and pertinent details.

Hey, look, if Mom tells a kid that turbocharged cars are waste of space, the child will learn to hate turbocharged cars.

If a Mom told the child that turbocharged cars were the greatest invention since bifocal glasses, then the child will grow up to like turbocharged cars.

So you can take it from there. YOu can decide the right way to raise children.

Maybe I am missing something here on AD, but what's all this mess about "turbocharged cars" all of a sudden?

Also, I will not do this survey due to the fact that I will no longer do any surveys.

HI this is aimed at any parent with a deaf childre it is not to support the main hypothesis just to see which barriers which i have idetified from secondary research occur the most.

It is to back up secondary research from which i have formulated the questions.

It is not designed to test different parenting methods or to indicate that there is a right or wrong parenting style, it is simply to see what barriers which i have identified from a range of studies and books occur most frequesntly

I apologise if i have gone about this and in the wrong way, i appreciate your feedback and chose this subject as i would like to work in this field.

I shall look through the site as more secondary reseacrh will support my study, however i wated to incorporate primary reseacrh as well. I shall leave the site sorry

No, you don't have to leave. Just do some research of your own throughout the site. There's probably far more information here than you realize. :)

no, all the info you need is right here on this site. You have to look at this from our angle - we have researchers coming here at least 2 or 3 times a week asking us to answer their surveys. You can imagine we're rather weary of this by now.

I find it hard to believe you really are doing a research when you can't spell
' research'. You spelled it wrong two times. I can't spell , so I use spell check. It would help if you did too.
