Deafcone here. Forst time on this forum. I am in the process of qualifying for a Cochlear Implant. I need help trying to find out sources to help pay for part of it. My insurance (Medica) only pays 80% and my 20% would come to about 20k dollars. Has anyone found supplimental insurance or other sources to help pay for their?

thanks for any info

Vocational Rehabilition? I know many who used VR to pay the 20 percent.

first of all, welcome to AD enjoy ur stay :D

i had the excatlly same problem as what u had.. my employer's insurance only will cover 80% and i pay 20%.. however i struggle and struggle finding sources to help cover the 20% of my bill for the CI surgery. and find none.. and finally they offered me an form to fill out for income based (a special discount for peple who can't afford high care cost).. and i only had to pay $3,000 out of pocket i feel relieved that don't have to pay $20k.

i believe you can try that too.. if its an university

I make too much money. Problem is I may be declaring bankruptcy as I can't afford bills I have. Real estate investment is coming back to haunt me. can't get rid of it due to market slump and can't afford to keep it.
I will try VR but will probably be turned down.

Due to what?

Due to making $14 an hour at my job. And I looked up the VR website for the state I live in (Minnesota) and they basically help people with disabilities find jobs. Unless I'm mistaking what they do. I am looking into a couple supplemental insurance options. I;m going forward with the qualification procedures regardless.
