Hello to All,
My name is Kathleen, I have a son who is 18 years old and he is deaf. He is going to graduate this year and I am assisting him in finding a Technical school to attend. Does anyone have any advise? We live here is Texas, he will be studying Culinary Arts. Also, he is trying to get his driver's license and he is having a hard time passing the computer test. He is a great driver, he just can't pass the test. I saw the other day on u-tube that it is harder for a person who is deaf to pass this test. I heard that he can request an interpreter, is this true? All your help welcome!

Kathleen

Yes, he can request an interpreter for the driving test.

If you lived in South Carolina I would have no problem recommending an excellent culinary arts program, complete with interpreting services. :)

If that's how you make your appointments for driver testing. In my area it's the DMV. Try to be flexible in your scheduling and give them plenty of advance notice. It will make things easier in getting a terp.
