Hello, my name is Derek Fowler, and I have a question of great importance. I am neither deaf, nor hoh, I am in fact, mute. And my question was, is it okay for me to be on here. If the community feels I do not belong or am in some way offensive to be on this site, then I will apologize and gladly leave. I don't want to overstep my boundaries.

Not too long ago there was some guy said the same thing you did here. Makes sense for you to join in. After all sign language is non verbal right?
 
Mute? From what? Thought the term was nonverbal (although that seems more about an euphanism for severely/profoundly mentally disabled kids who cannot speak), apraxic, or aphasic.
