Hi all, I'm 30 years old born and raised in Houston, TX (actually I spent my formative years in Sugar Land). I am hoh, suffered my hearing loss when I was in 3rd grade and have worn hearing aides since 4th grade. I have never participated much in Deaf/hoh activities throughout my life partly because I don't know ASL. I recently found out about the Houston Deaf Network and decided it's time start interacting with fellow deaf/hoh folks. Well, time to get back to work, more to come....

Hi, ricman! Come to the ASL socials even if you don't know ASL. I'll be there and I can meet you. I'm hoh and started going to ASL socials without knowing any ASL. I'm getting better.

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. Just relax and have fun reading and posting all the threads here. See you around here.

Next opportunity to get together is the P. I. P. (positive interact program) meeting on Tuesday at woodhaven Church for the Deaf on Long Point. This is an anniversary meeting and we will have plenty of food and then a time of sociall where you can learn a little new ASL, no pressure at all just totally friendlly. Go to ASL Social for more Houston events......and there are a lot of them!!

Thanks for the heads up about asl socials. Unfortunately I am busy till the end of October, doing class 4 days a week studying for an exam. Once that is over I fully intend to start participating. Hope to meet you all soon.

Underatandable and school life comes first. Just to mention it, we had 78 deaf/fod at the Friday social Great fellowship. great food and just an all-around fun night.
