I'm Orical, just figured I would come and see what your community had to offer. I've been around for many years ( something close to 19 to be exact ) and have helped my share of people along the way, I have had some cool friends on the net and I've seen the world change here over the years, some not so good and some for the better. This looks like a pretty decent community and I hope to get a chance to see progress in programming and development and maybe meet some really cool people so thanks for having me....

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. I hope we don't have hot debates with heated discussions about something we might regret about deafness, Deaf Culture and hearing aid along with CI. :hmm:

Well, enjoy reading and posting all the threads here. See you around here.

It's usually not good to start off with a statement such as this one above, it's almost as if your looking for an argument and that's not why I joined the site, if that's what this place is about then you can just delete my account and I'll be on my way.

Thanks for the positive replies from the other 2 members though, I hope this one person doesn't reflect the rest of the members.

What do you mean?? Bebonang gave you a very nice welcome.

We definitely debate a lot and get very emotional about some subjects.

Curious , are you deaf?

You will get used to us if you want to stay. But bluntness is characteristic here.

As the person most often complained about by hearing for my bluntness, I feel quite guilty you are so rude to Bebonang.

I'm not sure if you caught what he posted but when I greet some one I usually don't start off with confrontational views and future expectations of regrets on said views. It is an intro, I guess I expected to see maybe some links to get a new member started in the forum, maybe to read the rules, or even a friend invite to break the uncomfortable noobie effect that happens when some one joins a site and isn't sure what the other members are like.

So far ( I'm not the victim type either so don't get me wrong )I'm not getting the warm welcome I expected which is usually a given when intros come up but I kinda get why a lot of people don't usually give one till they get their feet wet.

I'll just see what the rest of the forum has to offer for now and thanks for the concern, Interesting so far though....

"Incase anyone was wondering about the gif, it's actually an image of a persons eye from the side and the distant image of earth was photoshoped to take place of the eye its self, I should have left the eye lashes in the image so that everyone could see what it was but it's seeing the world in a new light. "

Dude! it's all good. Everyone here on Ad is extremely helpful. But also everyone is quick and to the point whne it comes to their views and opinion's . It's just something that comes with diff personality's congregating in a single space. I wouldnt sweat it your more than welcome here and ask away what ever questions you may have or offer up information that you deem important to share with your fellow comrades. RElax and just soak it on in we are more than happy to have you here :)

Thank you, Botts for taking my side. Orical, I happen to be a old native woman from Canada, not a man. I know about my experience as a deaf child growing up and trying my best to do the things I can do as a deaf native adult. I am struggling just like every deaf person had to suffer in the hearing world. Beside, you will learn a lot of things about us struggling in the hearing world. So please, don't look down on us. Like Botts asked. Are you deaf or hard of hearing? Just be truthful with us. So don't feel bad as I am being blunt. See you around here.

Welcome orical. Some replies will probably set your teeth on edge. I myself never bothered to introduce myself when I registered.
Frequent posters do tend to take a stance that can be backed up by friiends. Just forget the thread and go somewhere else. You will find some interedting conversations elsewhere.
Funny thing is that people seem to think you are hearing. Maybe that is what set off the less than welcoming post.

OK, I'll make my point here and hopefully everyone can see my view without getting offended...

I don't believe an impairment constitutes the self infliction of being a victim under any circumstances, I'm not going to get into my life story because it only becomes a pissing contest among those whom feel its need to be addressed. I view things in a different light and learned long ago being comfortable with myself enough to help others see threw their inabilities without placing myself in their issues helps everyone involved.

Being 37 and living the life I have so far has shown me that no matter how you gift wrap your expectations there will always be some one looking to prove you inadequate, I'm happy with my life though I'm not rich but like everyone else I'm alive... There are other things in life you could be other than who you are now.

(P.S. I'm not going to answer the question Bottesini and Bebonang asked, if the issue didn't effect my life in some way then why would I concern myself with the site at all? Canadians...( that part is a joke.))
