i am so glad i found this site!

i'm nearing the end of my first semester of ASL (and am already enrolled for my second and third this summer and fall) and am interested in learning more about Deaf culture.

i live in rochester, ny... so it should be easy for me to get out there and learn while doing, but i am very shy and want to learn a bit more before i go out there. i would hate to accidentally insult someone or make a fool of myself.

anyway... hi :)

:welcome:  No worries, it will be alright. Everyone on here is really great and you will make a lot of friends. One thing that I have found that helps is when you get a webcam and then sign up for Skype or ooVoo. Then you can practice with other people other than when you are in school.

Hi Wembley,

Break out of the shyness QUICK. I'm not a shy person but speaking with people face to face used to be a problem with me. No matter where you are, be social. Not a total social butterfly that you feel the need to chat with strangers...lol...but just enough thta you can break out of your shyness. I mean if you are learning ASL....the shyness gotsa gooooo.....Hope to hear from you soon!!!!
