Hello Deaf community. I am a junior in high school and currently in ASL 2. I'm hoping to go to William Woods University and become a medical interpreter, and from there maybe even become a Doctor. Big wish, I know, but we gotta aim high, right?
Anyways, I joined this because I wanted to meet and talk with Deaf people, and also get advice for reaching my goals.
You guys have a beautiful language, and I feel special to have and be taking sign language at my high school :]

Hello, I can be your second Deaf person here. Say "anyway" as anyways is not a word. Knowing the English language and how to spell it is important for an interpreter.

If you don't believe me, ask your English teacher.

Hope you enjoy your stay with us. :welcome:

I love language too. ;)

Welcome to AD! I love your "location" and it's true, I wear flip flops in the winter time :)

.. and Bott, sometimes I say 'anyways'.. eek, thanks for the educational tidbit ;)

:welcome: to AllDeaf forum. If you become a Doctor in the future in the medical profession. Please do not try to fix us trying to make us hearing. Not even babies. :nono: Only when HOH, Late Deafend or probably deaf adults can have a say if they want to have CI as long as it is not force on us. We need to make choices whether we want it or not, not the hearing parents and other hearing professionals that do not know anything about deafness. It make us who we are as a deaf person and we can use ASL a lot better than trying to read lips. Okay, enough of the rant. ASL rock.

Just have fun reading and posting all the threads here. See you around here.

I do believe you, Botts! I do :D But you're talking to him, I know :(

:welcome:

Bottesini, "anyways" isn't a word? Hmm, I must be stuck in colloquialisms then
As for my Enrish, I does perty good :D
But in all seriousness, I'm pretty proficient with my English skills. It's just hard because there are things we say or write/text/e-mail that isn't formal English.

Bebonang, my ambition is not to "fix" the Deaf community by making you all hearing, my goal is to provide a service where a Deaf person can go straight into the Doctors office and not need to wait for an interpreter. I get it, you're Deaf. If I was hearing in a Deaf world, I would want to retain my hearing. So no worries, I'm not out to steal away your culture.

Thank you all for welcoming me :ty:
