Hearing test, Tinitis, and wanting to stay deaf

I hear phantom noises now, and that doesn't really bother me. I "hear" a noise just like someone spoke or moved something in the room. It doesn't upset me, though it's inconvenient having to stop and check for reality of the situation.

I get the same thing, even though I'm only hard of hearing. Sometimes I think my wife called my name when she didn't. :dunno2:

I got that worse as a HOH person. Now I'm profoundly deaf the noise just goes 'zzz' as there is little to activate my tinitus unless I'm having a hearing test.

Hi Dreama, Can you ask your Medical staff to stamp or write "Not Interested in CI" on your folders then they won't ask you again. My friend is determined not to have one and was fed up with Audi asking her if she is interested in CI so she told them to write it across her file.

US cyberfriends, Dreama is right about changing Audi, In UK we get what we get, if its same one or different it's doesn't matter... it's real pain in the a$$.

Hope you get what you need, dreama.

Thanks charlotte,
I can try but I specified that I didn't want a hearing devise right from the start. I wanted a tactile device.

They didn't mention CI this time. Just powerful hearing devices. But I didn't really respond well to hearing aids with an 80 db loss so how they expect me to hear anything with a 110 db loss I don't know.

At what frequencies is your 110db and 120db loss? Do you have much more residual hearing in the lows? If so, maybe a HA programmed to amplify only the lows might work for you and without setting off your tinnitus.

I don't know about the frequencies. I'm blind so couldn't see my chart.
Left ear is 120 db
right ear is 110 db.
They want me to have a powerful hearing aid for my left ear which would be fine if I had an SN lose but since I have an NA loss, recruitment, tinitus, and aditional problems processing noise, I don't consider a hearing aid a viable option for me. That's why I want to go tactile.
