She actually has a good sense of humor, but calling her Skunkie would go over the line.

I agree, but, "Skunkie" may be an affectionate term in Canada. I honestly don't know, but I'm willing to give benefit of doubt here.
But, you're right. Here in the U.S., it would be rude. If I called my Mother that, that would probably be the last thing I ever said to anybody!

In America, it would be considered rude to refer to a Mother as such, but maybe, in Canada it isn't?
I can imagine.
I used to know a deaf guy whose nickname was Skunkie because he had Wardenburg's and he had a wide stripe of white hair across his head just like a skunk.
Wow, I can't imagine that sitting well with him......
Well done travis. I am wishing you more enjoyment with your new hearing aid's. Keep up the good work my friend!!! In regards to the young woman who calls her mother skunky.. Stop to think that it could be a old nickname her mother received a long time ago and just stuck with her? I highly doubt the young woman is calling her mother a bad name.
I check dictionary skunkie but wow seems not nice please nice to polite! Thank!
