hearing aid in one ear....and people think the other ear is fine..

Having to use ear drops 2 times a day...my ears always have cotton in them.....Once a lady was talking to me and I told her that I was deaf.....and she said "take out the cotton so you can hear me"....
After my ear drum surgery in January, I had cotton swabs in my ears for about a week I think, and it was the first week back after winter break at college. With a new semester always comes the questions and explanations, etc. I cannot tell you how many people asked why I didn't take the cotton out of my ears so I could hear, or said I wasn't deaf, just pretending with the cotton. My solution each time was to remove the cotton so they could see my bloody, bruised ears :giggle: Freaked them out enough to shut up! The worst was in an ASL class. Thankfully my professor has a Deaf sister and put the guy in his place :D

One time, my brother, his girlfriend, and I went to a pool hall to play. The place charged by the hour per person. The girlfriend did not play at all. When we were done and went up to the check out, the owner tried to charge all 3 of us. He said that when he wrote out the slip, he said 3. My brother and I said we didn't hear because we're deaf. He said we were lying. We then proceeded to pull our hearing aids out and showed him, and he had the balls to say we were using fakes to get out of paying. Needless to say, a big arguement ensued, with shouting back and forth. My bro's girlfriend threatened him with a discrimination lawsuit, and he finally told us to leave and never come back. Well, in less than a year, the place closed.
