Hey guys and gals. I created this poll so wanted to see how many of you have felt earthquakes or not in your lifetime. You can share a story about it, also.

I have felt earthquakes so far about 4 or 5 times, largest quake was a 7.1 back in 1989 in SF bay area and 2nd largest was a 6.8 in 2001 here in Seattle. I remember those days and it was quite a experience!

I'd love to hear your stories about the quakes :thumb:

I've only felt the earth quake once in my life that was back when I was in high school, this happened while I was in class, for a moment there I thought someone was actually kicking my chair behind me so I turned around and seeing the boy's face like this :-o and that's when I knew it had to be something else, it was scary cause I could feel the ground shaking and I was on 3rd floor, I didnt want to fall right thru the bottom to get on the first floor....

After the earth quake end, my friend who was sitting next to me was teasing me by saying why were you holding onto the desk so tight, were you rather to fall with the desk on your lap?...I sure laughed and didn't have any idea why I was holding on so tight, I guess I was scared or maybe I wasn't ready to go on a rollarcoaster or something... :giggle:

Yes, I felt one in Ecuador, and I have felt a couple in SC, in my home.

Believe it or not!! No I have not but but I been thru it. Got a question mark on your head???

Ok Ok I will tell ya. At nite while I was at NTID. I was cleaning my desk and arrange my stuffs on the desk the way I wanted to be. Then I went to bed and then I woke up in the morning and notice that my paperweight rock have moved. Hummmmmmmmmmmm so I asked my roommate if she moved it and her replies was NO. Hummmmmmmmmmm oh well then I went to eat breakfast. All of suddent everyone was talking about earthquake and I was like :eek2: So there I went thru it but didnt feel it. Oh well.

I have felt one but at the time I didn't realize it was an earthquake until after it was on the news. I'm in Maryland and earthquakes here are pretty rare. When they do happen, they are rather small and you won't realize what they are until they talk about it on the news.

One time I woke up in the middle of the night to my windows rattling and pictures fell off the wall. I thought that was an earthquake but that was discounted. Nobody seems to know what that was but is believed to have been some sort of old ordinance exploding in the chesapeake bay (It was only felt within a few miles and only along the water....not the makings of an earthquake).

As Southern California native, I felt the earthquake countless times and it is no big deal. It is much less danger than twisters or hurricanes.

The biggest earthquake ever I felt in Northridge, California - 1994. It was 6.7 magnitude. My ex-girlfriend and I stayed at my good friend's place for few days plus party (We often stayed at that friend's place time to time for parties & events). I woke up approx 4:30 am when few pictures fell down from the wall and hit on us (my ex and me). Then other personal things fell down from the shelves and hit on us too, we got up and walked to the hall (my friend have two floors in his home where we slept on second floor). I can literally saw the wall moving forth and back, it was quite freaky sight ever I seen for a while. My friend got up and we decided to get out of his place right away which we did and stand outside to deal with cold night (It was January). We then saw several neighbors coming out of their houses or light on in their houses.

According to newspapers that I read one day after Northridge earthquake, it was the most damaging earthquake in America since 1906. We were lucky that nothing happen to us. I also heard the rumors that few deafies got killed in Northridge earthquake due to apartment crumpled on them, I am not sure if the rumor is true or not.

I felt an earthquake two years ago when we had a gas explosion, I was at home during that time all sudden the house shaken and I thought OMG We are having an earthquake, Then it stopped after several times of shaking my whole house off and on. I finally notice a big fire it was huge!, I found out it was a gas explosion right down my street.

And back in High School too ^Angel^ already beat me to it. :giggle:

Wow, Taylor! I lived in Maryland for a number of years myself, but I never felt anything that resembled an earthquake. But, then, I also lived closer to DC for most of that time. I didn't move closer to the Chesapeake Bay until 1996. Since I moved to FL in 1998, I've been through a few tropical storms and have evacuated for two hurricanes, which is something else altogether!

I tell ya, folks. Doesn't matter where you live, Mother Nature seems to have something in store for us!

I never have felt any earthquakes, though I have come to home a few times when my parents were asking me if I felt anything at school. The news always reported that the air force jets flew over so quickly, breaking the sound barrier, and causing sonic booms throughout the area. Makes the windows rattle and all. Now that I live in Utah, I sometimes think I am feeling an earthquake but think that I am imagining it. On the Earthquake website, it shows that Utah has hundreds of earthquakes per year, but I never really feel anything.

i sure felt that quake of 89 mannn i was coming back from town and logging back in, iw as a couple of minutes late and near to getting a red mark for being late ( long story) anyway So i arrived in and i saw my classmate on the phone ordering pizza and the next thing i see is her throwing the phone i was like what are you doing??? and saw her go under the desk thats when i knew something was wrong and i turned around and the baseball feild was ROLLING like it was like no way so i threw my shopping bag and ran under my desk and waited til it stopped then we were evucated to cottage 3 and they said evaucate the whole building for possible gas leak it took us 3 hrs before we were cleared to go back into the building and watched the news my mom called me at 3 am in the morning after finally getting thru all night of the phone being jammed and when we finally got home i didn't het home til friday almost 10 pm and so we drove to where my mom was working and my whole family was there to ask me all abt it so i tld them like i told you. dang! ( btw this all happened to me at CSDF california school for the deaf fremont)

Sorry everyone! Sorry about the earthquake you all recently felt. That was actually me farting up a storm. I'd been holding it in for a week and all of those bean burritos really started building up. I held it all in as much as I could... until today. Sorry!
