in the healthcare settings? Especially in regards to mental health?

I'd like to hear your problems or experiences, if possible.

Could you be a little more specific please?

Are you asking about the mental health of interpreters or about the use of interpreters in mental health settings?

Do you have an experience with mental health problems that you would like to publicly share?

I apologize, I wasn't very clear. The use of interpreters in mental health settings. And I'm not asking about the specific mental health problems, just the experience with the interpreters and health care settings.

Interpreters are always on their guard in mental institutons. An interpreter friend told me a story about a patient attacking an interpreter because she looked like his mother.

You realize that even without discussing specific problems just by saying one uses an interpreter in mental health settings is a revelation that one has mental health issues. That might be something personal that someone doesn't want to reveal in public. Would you be comfortable with sharing your personal problems in public?

That's why, on the other side of the coin, interpreters aren't allowed to reveal where they go for assignments or for whom they interpret. Not to mention now HIPAA restrictions on top of that.

I'm just giving you a heads up that people might not be thrilled to share such information.

I don't have issues talking about my experiences, nor do my hearing friends who've gone to health institutes for various reasons. But that's them, and I'm not forcing anyone to share anything they don't want to share. No one has to answer if they're uncomfortable talking about it.

So were you diagnosed with Oppositional Defiant Disorder?? :ugh:

You seem to get hostile any time anybody tries to tell you anything...

What you are asking for would be inappropriate for anybody to share with you.

She asked me if I had issues sharing those kind of experiences, and I answered her honestly that no, I don't usually have issues with it. I've discussed it strangers on other sites with no issues. And then I went on to say that absolutely no one has to answer if they're uncomfortable. How you get hostile from that is all on your perception, so it's not really my issue.

Again, I already insinuated that not everyone is the same. No one's being forced to answer.

interpreters in the mental care settings have issues if they share their experiences
