Has anyone been on cruises before?

Hej Liza, I think we talked about this before, but anyway I think I will air my opinions out about cruises. I once watched a 20/20 show about cruises, about how much wasteful they are. Of course, all these food for banquets, whatever is left over ends up where? The 20/20 show had a footage where someone videocameraed the cruise staff throwing trash into the sea below them. I don't think I would feel good supporting that kind of thing. I would have to be convinced first that certain cruises are eco-friendly and not wasteful with their resources.

Yeah, I have been on a cruise long time ago in 1988 from Alaska to Seattle. it also carries cars, too. It was fun and it took 3 days, so we needed a break from driving from Alaska. We were on a long trip from California to Alaska with our truck, it was lots of fun!

Me too

I was on an Alaska cruise last year.
In May, I will go on a Hawaii cruise.

YAY!!!!!!! :bump:

be prepare to get sea sick. :barf:

Almost half the people on the Cruise got sick.

Well,

I have rode on a boat many times before and haven't got sick, so I don't see a point where I would end up getting sick from the sea....but I love the ocean, so I hope I wouldn't get sick...

me too

I rode on a boat many time too....

but dang, I threw up on the cruise in 1999.
And got sick... last year.

I just couldn't wait to get off that ship....

The Doctor there gave everyone sea sick pills.

Oh really?

going on a boat on lake is nothing compare to a ocean.. ocean is full of movement back and forth all day long...

Hopefully sometime next year or two i'm going on cruise... but the chance is low.. i'm more likely gonna FLY to jamacia instead going on cruise :D

Just take Drammamine and other similar products for motion-sickness...

Virus strikes cruise ship
Nearly 250 sickened by Norwalk-like virus
Saturday, January 22, 2005 Posted: 1:33 AM EST (0633 GMT)

:( (CNN) -- Nearly 250 people on a seven-day Caribbean cruise were sickened by a Norwalk-like stomach virus, which officials believe was brought on board by a passenger previously exposed to it, the cruise line said Friday.

The Mariner of the Seas is set to dock in Port Canaveral, Florida, on Sunday, Royal Caribbean spokesman Michael Sheehan said in a statement.

The ship has been sailing in the Western Caribbean with 3,465 guests and 1,190 crew members. Of those, 229 guests and 18 crew members were believed to have been affected by the virus.

Those who became ill were treated and "responded well" to over-the-counter medication, the company said.

The virus was traced to a guest who had symptoms for two days prior to the cruise's departure.

Royal Caribbean has sent three additional doctors and a nurse to assist the ship's medical team and have implemented a program of heightened sanitation procedures for crew members.

Symptoms of a norovirus, or Norwalk-like virus, include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea and stomach cramping, according to the federal Centers for Disease Control Web site.

A low-grade fever can also be present along with chills, headache, body aches and fatigue. The illness is usually short-lived, lasting from one to two days.

Noroviruses, which affect some 23 million people a year, have been blamed for a rash of illnesses on cruise ships in recent years.

It was first identified in 1972 after an outbreak in Norwalk, Ohio.
