If so, I would like to hear about your experiences. My husband and I are considering a cruise from Oslo to Kiel (Germany)--cheap line loaded with all the goodies, and perhaps try another cruise his co worker was on recently... all for my 25th birthday in May. What activities did you have on board? What are your suggestions?

Liza,

I have not been on any cruises. However, my parents have taken many cruises over the years. Mostly to the Carribean countries and to Mexico (big, surprise, eh?). At any rate, I'll interrogate them and give you their input. :) If you have any specifics questions you'd like answered, you may PM me with them, and I'll try to have your questions answered. I have one for you...

When are you going? :)

Nope, I have not been on cruises. My in-laws were on cruises.

My hubby "cruised" on Navy ships for many years. Does that count, ha, ha?

No, I have been not on cruises but my hubby's mother wants to take us on a cruise with them for next year.

Was on a 2 night/three day cruise about 15 years ago. Will go on a 7 day cruise this June after the bowling tournament in Hawaii. The cruise is a cruise of all the Hawaiian islands. Only problem with the Hawaii cruise is that the ship does not get out into international waters; therefore the casino will stay dark.

Lisa, the cruise lines, generally speaking, put heavy emphasis on food. I think this is a smart way to break up the monotony of the water. They feed you 4 times a day, breakfast, lunch, dinner and a midnight meal when they bring out all their wonderful ice sculptures for all to admire. On most cruises, y'all get to eat dinner with the Captain once... Of course, they also have many shipboard activities for you to indulge in......remember to tip personnel who cater to your every need: Your cabin person, your wine steward, etc, etc.... Well, I don't think I really gave you anything to think about as the things I mentioned are pretty standard.......Oh, watch out for icebergs! :thumb:

I was on a cruise last year. We went up to Canada. What my brother and I liked was that there was places to eat even at 2 o'clock in the morning. I also remember these huge ice sculptures. They were really pretty. They also had something called chocolate night, where if you stayed up till midnight, then there was a chocolate buffet with every chocolate thing you could imagine, and then some.

Cruise from NYC to Bermuda; you get plenty
of food for the entire week it's cheaper than
go to hotel and pay more for food... I actually
enjoy so much when we both finally arrived
at Bermuda island and then
we "tool around" the island and a small town using
the moped bikes and go jetskiing nearby etc...

Most important things to remember:
Bring your own passport and know exactly
what time the cruise will leave Bermuda !!!

yep ive been on a cruise many years ago with my parents and older sister -- i definately have enjoyed it! :thumb:

I went on a P&O cruise last year in November, it was great!

It was a 9 day cruise, I sunbathed most of the time and went swimming. They had wonderful entertainment in the evenings, plus lots of activities during the day like yoga, tennis, jogging and lots of other sports. They do tours of the ship, competitions, food tasting sessions and art auctions as well.

They also do lessons so that you can learn new things while you are on holiday, you can learn to massage, how to look after your hands, etc!

The food is excellent, we had 6 courses every night, so I was very full all the time and put on weight, thats why they provide so many sport activities on board!

The only disadvantage about the cruise was that I got a bit seasick, people told me that because the ship is so big, you won't feel the rocking motion of the sea, but it got very rough at times, walking around was a nightmare, but it was really fun especially in high heels! (It was good practice!) Please don't let that put you off, it wasn't rough all the time!!

Go! You and your husband will definately enjoy it. The holiday will give you a big break from housework, as you get a cabin steward and they do EVERYTHING for you.

I've never been on a cruise before. I did consider going on one with my ex-girlfriend. But, we broke up before that opportunity ever came up. :(

No, I never have been on cruises. but I was supposed to go once with my mom and a friend of mine if i could bring one who wants to go but i know its expensive and such. so it never happened that i went yet though for some reasons. :dunno:

With someone special?

You can go with family member or friends.

Don't have to go with a boyfriend or husband.

Thanks, chick! I can't think of any specific question yet, but I'll get back to you when I do. I appreciate it.

Annnd... when do I go? Probably on May 14th- my bday. Or the weekend after that. Because I've got language classes, and they end on the 13th... would cut it really close when I have to take a long trip back home, then BACK forth all the way to Oslo. :P Would be a great way to celebrate the end of my classes, too.
