Happy Memorial Day Weekend!!!

Reba, thank you for provide this link. I am total surprised because we will have US public holiday "Memorial Day" at work place on 8th June. I guess the reason they put 8th June for us because we will have German Public Holiday "Whit Monday" on 28th May and other German Public Holiday "Corpus Christi" on 7th June and US Public Holiday "Memorial Day" on 8th June. (I have both US and German public holidays because I work for US government).

I am going to create a new thread about the world public holidays.

Well, there is a lot of history there. Especially since my grandfather was on that ship and was a crew member for a long time and he was a survivor like the ship. my parents went there last month to see everything. My dad is proud of his father and follows the same path. Because my grandfather passed April 14th of 91. He never got to fully tell his story but pictures of him live on. my parents got some amazing pictures when they went to see the ship. The USS Yorktown is very famous I am sure my grandfather would have been shocked about it and more. I will share later my parents up close pictures of the ship but seriously I miss my grandfather and his amazing story. I have other war veterans in my family. I can never get enough of my grandfather's work and all. my dad (I was adopted so I still call him dad) never forgets the stories that his father (my grandpa) shared when he returned. I am sure if my grandfather had survived he share this experience with everyone his family knew; that was what my grandma told me. He passed away several years after the war and being on the ship but never survived his 3rd heart bypass surgery in April of 91.

Wow, that's very interesting.

I'm sorry your grandfather is no longer around to tell his stories.

Maybe you can start a new thread for sharing these stories and pictures? That would be cool. :P
