Hand sanitizer is dangerous

Wow! Thanks for posting this info! I have hand sanitizer bottles around my house and a 14 month old son. They are out of his reach but I will now be extra extra careful to keep them way out of his reach!

i sent this to my friends via email recently but thought i would post it for you guys in case some of you guys were interested!

6 Simple Steps to Keep You Cold-Free

now you guys understand why i never open the door with my BARE HANDS or touch the elevator door/elevator buttons with my fingers... always use my knuckles! :P no more making fun of me! :D
they said pens are worse (i agree that it spreads germs too- which is why i always have some santizers in handy no matter what) ... i think computers are a lot worse than pens cuz people share computers or cash registers AT WORK (at home is fine if you guys keep your hands cleaned in which jason and i do- i even wash my hands AS SOON AS I GET HOME all the time cuz there are germs everywhere you go to and it does the trick!)

another thing, when i go to restaurants, i never eat with utilities that are already on the table.. i tend to ask for new ones... because believe it or not, they NEVER WASH the tables thoroughly - (they use the same cloth/sponges, etc (REALLY GROSS!!!)... how do i know??? cuz i used to work at restaurants!!! that's why!! they don't have time to wash cloths EVERY TIME!!! SHEESH!!!) so, that's another way to spread germs.. --- then i keep them on napkins or my plate... if you get my drift... many people don't think about things like this... this is why jason and i hardly get sick much anymore... as we wisen up... and learned things like this... ofc my family taught me these things as well...

we also take AIRBORNE as much as we can before we go into the public... it does the trick... we told our friends about airborne... some of them started to take airborne... and thanked us for introducing the airborne to them... i learned about airborne when i was living with my mom a few years ago... and have been taking it since then, and told jason about it, he takes it now and likes it! :) recently, he found a new airborne CALLED ON THE GO- it is in a small papertube and you can keep them in your purse or backpack, etc...

oh before i forget, most of you probably don't know this, but hotels/motels NEVER wash their BEDSPREADS! which really grosses us out!!!- so we always take it off of the beds as soon we get to the room and put it on the floor on the side or something... i could go on and on.. but it will take me forever lol.... but this is pretty much that are the most important as it is for daily...

Thanks for the tips.

I do pretty much the same things as you do.

I don't take the bedspreads off completely but I fold them down, and always fold the sheet over the blanket edge.

I always have tissues or something disposable with me to touch public door knobs (I'm also very good at opening doors with my feet and hips, ha, ha).

I love many of the newer restrooms that have electronic eye automatic toilets, sinks, soap dispensers, and paper towel dispensers. Also, it's better to have a restroom that uses a "labyrinth" entrance instead of an outer door. It's more sanitary, and more accessible for wheelchairs and strollers.

I know what you mean about restaurant tables. Sometimes I open up a paper napkin and make a placemat with it to put under my stuff (in fast food places). I always keep the flatware on a napkin or plate, not directly on the table.

I carry and use my own pens.

You can get disposable wipes to clean public keyboards (still wash your hands after, too, but at least the keyboard won't be sticky--ewwww).

Related to this topic, it is very interesting to me that in the last couple of decades that we are seeing a tremendous rise in allergies and asthma in people. Why would that be? Especially with Americans living much cleaner lives than ever before? The Third world countries are not having this problem and probably never will. The reason appears to be that because they don't lead such clean lives their bodies acclimatize to all the "bugs" and "germs" in their environment. Obviously, there are drawbacks living "dirtier" lives as mortality increases as not everybody has a super immune system.

There just needs to be a balance in the environment to allow the human body to cope better but keep the nastier stuff at bay. The old saying applies here "You can't eat your cake and have it too!". Pick your poison...

 I had no idea! my kids use hand sanitizer all the time and never seen a problem, we have hand sanitizers in the bathroom, by the kitchen sink too, and I'm surprised it's dangerous for kids. That's why my kids don't get sick too often because we always have the hand sanitizers to get rid of outdoor germs, or any other type of germs, cuz sometimes kids don't wash their hands that well enough, and bacteria germs can still be there. Thanks for the note, I'll keep a close eye on them, and let them know not to lick their hands or put their hands in their mouth.

Oh great, what's next... Preparation H ??

NUTY!,
:laugh2:

Hand Sanitizer... Really ? Dangerous.. I have no aware of this one... *hmmmm* Depend what kind the brand specific can may lead into dangerous one deadly than other kind of brand Hand Sanitizer?

Some doctors are suggesting the makers of hand sanitizers change their labeling.

The request comes after at least two people were sickened and made drunk after drinking hand sanitizers.

The people said the label on the sanitizers reads 63 percent isopropyl alcohol.

One prison inmate and a hospitalized alcoholic were both treated for poisoning after drinking the gels.

The prisoner, who is usually calm, was described as acting disoriented and combative after he drank hand sanitizer from a gallon-sized container.

The alcoholic drank hand sanitizer from a bathroom dispenser.

He was treated for chest pains.

yea i am a santizer "FREAK" :D  and i don't give a flying fook what people think of me :thumb:

At first I thought you were being superfluous about the sanitizer, but now we can't live without it. All thanks to you!

The article was shocking and I'm glad that we kept our three year old out of reach because we could smell the alcohol in sanitizer. It is always best that we read the ingredient from the back and find out what's in it because things happen to people when not careful.

Want to bitch and whine about this soap being bad? Fine, I'll bitch and whine about mouthwash being bad. Yep, mouthwash such as Listerine has alcohol.

Remember that prisoner who drank that soap? Well, what you gonna do if I drink that mouthwash? Oh no, I'm gonna die!

Oh, wait... what idiot drinks mouthwash? What idiot drinks soap? We shouldn't blame the company for having a bad product, but the idiot who drank the product.

I shoot you with my gun. Whose fault is it that I shot you? My own fault... not the gun manufactor.
