The House of Domination: The Witching Hours, The Anne Rice Halloween Ball
(This is a Halloween tribute not sponsored or endorsed by either Anne Rice or her fan club.)
New York, New York, USA
11pm – Dawn
Dress Code: As your favorite Anne Rice character, Victorian doll effects, ball dress or period costume
www.mothernyc.com/events/halloween2002.html
Leave the scaries in the streets and join us for the Witching Hour, a spectacular, pansexual tribute to the literature of Anne Rice. Of course this night celebrates Lestat, Louis and the other Vampyres who made Rice a household name, but it pays equal homage to her other characters and dynasties. In the spirit of the fabled "Coven Balls" held by Rice's New Orleans fan club through 2000, the producers invite all partygoers to dress as their favorite Rice literary creation, no matter how obscure. The return of Click + Drag even for an evening is a treat - Click will take over the upstairs gallery, where multimedia wizard Rob Roth (visual instigator of the last two Blondie tours) will preview Rice-inspired video installations. Click DJ Sammy Jo spins the eclectic, electronic, old and new romantic soundtrack, and the evening's costume competition (for best ANNE RICE character realness) will take the Gallery stage at 12:30 with a $100 cash prize. The downstairs lounge will feature the sexually tinged, pan-erotic side of Rice. $15 / $10 with invite, web printout or ankh. 18 to enter / 21 to drink - I.D. required at door.

Halloween with the Damned
Great American Music Hall
San Francisco, California, USA
(415) 885-0750
9pm
If you can't handle the thought of walking around all night with a bunch of drunken sailors, injuns, cowboys and construction workers, and you've already seen The Cramps ten thousand Halloween's in a row, you may want to check out the Damned. These UK punk forefathers still wear leather rock star pants and still kick ass. But now they're old, which makes them scarier, which qualifies them for Halloween. Playing with them are San Francisco favorites the Dwarves. Anyone who has ever had to stand in line for longer then their actual set, or has had to duck from Blag's microphone, or has ever seen them all naked, knows that this is the only truly frightening place to be on Halloween. They've already raised the dead once so go ahead and bring your impotent lover, you might witness a miracle.
