Eric Stoltz was originally cast as Marty McFly in Back to the Future. After 5 weeks of filming, the director switched to his first choice, Michael J Fox, when Fox agreed to divide his time between starring in this movie and starring in Family Ties television series. Plus, the director felt that Stoltz didn't have that comedic sense that they were looking for in the movie. So, yes... those pictures are real.
