why did the names change?
VamPyroX said:As for the other two local Greeks, -ΑΣΘ- and -ΚΦΘ-, they are local so they do not have a national headquarters to depend on. If something goes wrong, they can be shut down easily. They do not have much insurance to support them. Being local is a big risk.

Yes, they can get their own insurance... but since it's a local chapter... their insurance won't cover much. Most national/international fraternities have insurance that can go over $1,000,000. Local fraternities can't get that kind of insurance.KingCobra said:Well said!
That is so important for the local greek organizations to carry their own insurances.
Yes, any fraternity can become national. It's a long step-by-step process and setting one up these days is harder than it was in the past. Most national/international fraternities were established over 100 years ago.BabyPhat21 said:but if the local one becomes bigger then they can be national and their names will never have to change right?
Aren't you contradicting yourself? You're GDI in a private sorority? If you believe you're in a private sorority, therefore you aren't GDI. If you believe you're GDI, therefore you aren't part of your own private sorority.Strawberry said:Opinion:
They are good benefits for the real world.
I'm a sophmore in college and proud GDI with my own little private, local Soritory- Epsilon Gamma that only contains 3 members. No rules are applied nor insurance which is nice. Heheh.
I've thought about joining the pledge program for Alpha Sigma Theta and see how that goes, but for sure I know I do want to become a Sigma Sigma Sigma sister as I have tried joining my first year at RIT. I even rushed for a hearing soritory at RIT- Delta Phi Epsilon (DPhiE). But right now, I like being GDI.

Strawberry said:Actually...Epsilon Gamma isn't "a soritory" yet... and it isn't nationally-wide known frat or soritiory by that name except Epsilon Gamma Tau for a Frat somewhere in Arizona. Sooo we GDI like to iminiate the image of "soritory" so therefore we are still GDI with no wheareabouts of the offical-soritory name. It could also contain a club name.
Edit: Excuse my typo.
Therefore... I call you EG (Elegant Gals)!Strawberry said:Actually...Epsilon Gamma isn't "a soritory" yet... and it isn't nationally-wide known frat or soritiory by that name except Epsilon Gamma Tau for a Frat somewhere in Arizona. You're right. They suck. If they are underground, then they are either troublemakers or just refuse to cooperate with the school. We've had a few of those in the past and some of them were busted. Heh!BabyPhat21 said:I have heard some stuff about "underground" fraternity and sorority.... I dont trust it........
