Got my other HA back

Ironically she was the same patient who gave me nothing but problems because she claimed her hearing aids beeped all the time when she was home. She was at her wits end and thought I was an idiot. Claimed they only did it in her house, beeped every 2min or something. I thought she was pulling my leg, and then I started getting mad (didn't make sense). One trip to her house to experience these possessed hearing aids in her home, she was right. The fix......change the batteries in her smoke alarms. :run:

LOL! That's funny. Ironically I used to drive my hearing friends insane every time my hearing aids gave feedback (usually whenever I laughed). They used to think it was their smoke alarms needing a battery change. It's also how I got my nick name "R2D2"

Glad to hear it. Never heard of a HA been chewed on by a dog. I have heard many other kinds of er "excuses" about the dog...;)

The aids I had right before my current pair were chewed by my dog - they worked fine afterwards, though - no repairs necessary. (My audi told me a story of a toddler she knew whose aid had been *swallowed* by the dog. Apparently, the family waited until it 'resurfaced', then brought it in to her for repair ... she sent it to the manufacturer, who decided it'd be less disgusting to just replace it.)

The only other pair I damaged was when I was five, right after I got my first ones. We were at the beach, and I got so excited, I ran into the ocean with them on. Freshwater damage can often be avoided if you dry it carefully, but saltwater - yikes.

Wow....all of these are very interesting stories! So far, I haven't had any accidents with my hearing aids. But, I almost did one night a few years ago when I got in the shower with my hearing aids on!! I got in the shower, just about to step right under the showerhead....when all at once, I was wondering WHY I as actually hearing the water running! Oh you betcha, I got back out of the shower and took my aids off!! LOL

:giggle: That happened to me shortly after my first CI was activated. When I wake up in the morning, my CIs are the first thing I put on. After feeling pretty groggy one morning I put my processor on (I only had one CI at the time), walked into the bathroom and turned on the shower. It was then that I realized I still had my processor on, so I took it off and tucked it safely in the Dry and Store. Knowing how groggy I was that morning, I'm surprised I didn't actually step into the shower with it on! LOL!

Great and Careful with it ! Don't let your dog ruin it again! :giggle:

Hear Again:

Oh My!! :giggle: I can relate to that, only I wouldn't be groggy but I'd be half asleep!! My hearing aid(s)....(used to be two, now it is just one) is the very first thing I put on when I wake up too. Sometimes when I am just so preoccupied, it is easy to forget to take it off! After all, I am so very accustomed to wearing it and it is like wearing earrings that you pay no particular attention to! :)
