Oh does he have good health insurance too? That's a good thing to not worry about. So you have basicly a "lopsided" loss where the hearing is better in one ear? Do you mean that you have to go through a speech discrimination test before bilaterals? That's a good idea......but you did say that your hearing aid causes headaches.........you should mention that to your audi!

Yeah I talked with my audiologist about HA. She said it's my decide not wear HA if it's headache and cannot Fix. The hA is 9 years old now. That is why I can't get benefit for new HA. So I have CI.

Uh, have you tried newer HAs? If your hearing is worse than mine then no HA will give much benefit. But if you have more residual hearing than me, new HAs could possibly give you alot of benefits and no headaches! I wish those looking to get CI would first try the newest HAs, exception is if they have no or very little residual hearing. It's a good thing you preserved your residual hearing so it's not too late for you to try the best HAs, perhaps youll be happy with those HAs over CI? I don't know how much residual hearing you have nor how much benefit youll get from the best HAs today. Everyone is different. Maybe new HAs will make you happy?

Deafdyke had suggested a bimodel approach. It's possible you may be happy with a new HA on your nonimplanted ear thatll work with your implanted ear. I know it's your choice if you want a 2nd CI, but im just saying there's a chance a new HA would make you just as happy and save you the risks of a 2nd CI. I am happy with my HAs so I don't need to be risking CI surgery. I still am getting stem cells so I hear better with my HAs and get more benefit from HAs than I do now. I read one of your posts that you said you may get stem cells when you become blind so you can see better. Same thing for me to hear better. It's my choice. I respect your choice for CI and will respect your other choices, including trying the best HA :) Good luck!

Why you keep debating with CI users about hearing aids?

if they are already implanted, it's too late.

I edited my above post. But for her, it's not too late if she kept all her residual hearing as she said. Me and Deafdyke are suggesting a bimodel approach, but it's also possible she could go back to HA even in the implanted ear if she finds out a newer HA gives her benefit and makes her happy. It's her choice!

 You don't understand. I kept tell you many times. HA don't help me anymore. I can't get new HA benefit due to my hearing loss worse. Please STOP PUSH on me! I rather get BILATERAL CI period! END the DISCUSS with me! You are not being respect me!

Hey MOD, Please :locked: my thread. Thank you!

Oh so your residual hearing worsened in your unimplanted ear? It was profound before right? I do agree you're prolly a perfect canidate for bilateral implant....Does your audi pretty much agree that you maxed out on HA? Just wondering. Yes.....the newer HAs can be awesome......but there are still people who get little to no benifit from them. Is your loss progressive? You know....I really would push for a second CI ASAP.
