Remember back when I was trying to enroll in my city college to earn a degree in Deaf Communications (terp)? That was a good while ago as some of you know. Well life side tracked my efforts so I was unable to enter college at that time. Now things have changed in my life so that I'm (again) attempting to enroll in my city college. I just made a few phone calls to get the ball rolling and, you will not believe this, there is a chance that I may go to college for free. Yes, FREE (books and all!).

I am disabled (bipolar) and the State of Florida gives special financial leeway to does who are disabled. I have to qualify though. Well at the very least I'll have some financial aid that I do not have to pay back. Nonetheless, my goal to be a certified (with an AA degree to boot) terp is within reach, finally.

Now All I have to do is read a bunch of documents, sign them, send them back and then visit with a counselor for a primary evaluation. That's the first step. I hope to receive the documentation via the mail soon.

Wish me luck guys.

Good luck Aqua Blue. I hope it all works out well and you achieve your goal. :)

woohoo! :birthday: college!

I need to move to Florida. How do they feel about paying for graduate programs...?

:birthday: college is teh awesomes. Sometimes I don't want to leave. (Clearly.)

Beats me...I do not know, sorry.

I think it's awesome that you can (hopefully) go. I think our "success" rate would be higher in the US if we had more opportunities for college, like they do in many European countries.

In the end, I guess you could always take out loans after you're 24. :/

My main goal is fluency, degree, certifaction, agency, work. In that order, basically.

Does the BA by 2012 apply to your state? i hope not, its a pain in the rear end! never the less CONGRATS AND YAY!!!!:):)

I'm not married, no kids either. So relocating, if comes down to that, would not be a problem for me if Florida requires certification and a BA. I'm going to move forwards with my goal regardless of all that Violet.
