Good new!,boyfriend could face charges! :fingersx:

Sheriff recommends charges in toilet case
Woman refused to leave bathroom for up to 2 years

NESS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A man should be charged for allowing his girlfriend to sit on their toilet so long that her body became stuck to the seat, the sheriff said Thursday.

Ness County Sheriff Bryan Whipple was among authorities who discovered the woman last month living in the bathroom of a mobile home she shared with her boyfriend, Kory McFarren

Ness County (Kansas) Sheriff Bryan Whipple speaks about the case Thursday.

"The house was cluttered but not in shambles," he said. "The smell was overpowering — a terrible smell about the house, obviously coming from where she was at."

McFarren, 36, told police his girlfriend, Pam Babcock, 35, had a phobia about leaving the bathroom and may not have left the bathroom in two years, although he's unsure how long she was in there.

He said during that time, he brought her food, water, and clean clothes.

"The only thing I am guilty of is I didn't get her help sooner," he told The Associated Press on Thursday.

The sheriff said that judging by the woman's condition — she had open sores on which the toilet seat would stick — it appeared she likely sat on the toilet continually for at least a month.

"She would have to be sleeping on the toilet," the sheriff said.

Whipple asked the county attorney to charge McFarren for mistreatment of a dependent adult. The prosecutor did not return phone calls seeking comment.

"The unfortunate thing is this truly is a case of two people, in my opinion, with diminished mental capacity," Whipple said.

McFarren, who works at an antique store, said he has been taking care of Babcock for the 16 years they have lived together. He insisted that he tried to coax her out of the bathroom every day. The home has a second bathroom.

McFarren said he finally called police Feb. 27 after he became worried because Babcock was acting groggy, as if she didn't know what was going on around her.

What emergency responders found when they entered the bathroom has left many in the town of about 1,500 people buzzing and authorities incredulous.

Whipple said the seat was taken off the toilet so the woman could be transported to the hospital for treatment.

Doctors at the Wichita hospital told the boyfriend an infection in her legs has damaged her nerves and may leave her in a wheelchair, he said.

I'd say this woman was extremely agoraphobic. We need to pity her, not laugh at her.

While the circumstanceso of this story are humorous, we have to realize thats got to be disgusting and sad at the same time. Im thinking both the boyfriend and the girlfriend are mentally deficient. I mean come on the average person knows that something isnt right when the girlfriend was in there for more than 2-3 days. I would be calling the medics and say look my girlfriend has locked herself in the bath room for the last 2-3 days and wont come out. Ive taken her food, water, and clothes but this is ridiculous. But the boyfriend didnt see that or just plain 'ignored' the problem until it got way out of hand and is using the 'she's an adult' exscuse to save his own ass. I think before pressing charges the boyfriend should undergo a mental evaluation to determine if he was of sound mind to make a rational decision.

Stuck two years on the potty? :jaw:OMG! I know I can't make sense out of it at all.
:giggle:

Agreed. I just still can't get why it took 2 whole years to notice that just now, You know? Whether she's an adult or not, it is still in the best of her welfare to get help on the spot than prolonging it.

That's terribly insane to be in the bathroom for 2 years. I can't imagine, how this woman literally survived. It must be a mental case to consider both the gf/bf are not in the right mental stage who knows. They definately need some help.

Ive reread this several times and I still can't wrap my mind around it. I wonder if there are any new updates.

I'd like to follow up on this. Do you have an updated information, such as a link to share with us? If you can find it, it'd be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't have the link, but I read several days ago that he was charged with endangerment for not notifiying the emergency squad sooner, and that she was still in a psychiatric ward of the hospital. Sorry I didn't post it as soon as I read it. Guess I'm a rule breaker for not having the link now!

NESS CITY, Kan. - A man whose girlfriend sat on a toilet for so long that the seat adhered to her body has been arrested in a separate case. Authorities say Kory McFarren was arrested Sunday for alleged lewd and lascivious behavior.

He allegedly exposed himself to a neighbor's teenage daughter and her friends. He spent the night in jail before posting bond.

No charges had been filed by Thursday. The 36-year-old McFarren could not be reached for comment.

He was charged last week with a misdemeanor count of mistreatment of a dependent adult. That was after his girlfriend was found stuck to the toilet in late February.

This is a follow-up of this story. This just came in today.

Boyfriend of woman stuck to toilet gets probation

NESS CITY, Kan. (AP) — A man whose girlfriend sat on a toilet for so long that the seat adhered to her body will spend six months on probation.

Kory McFarren pleaded no contest last month to a misdemeanor count of mistreatment of a dependent adult. A judge sentenced him Tuesday to six months in jail but granted the probation after the victim, Pam Babcock, asked for leniency.

"She didn't believe that her circumstances were his fault," Ness County Attorney Craig Crosswhite said.

Babcock's plight became known in February when McFarren called the Ness County sheriff, expressing concern about his live-in girlfriend. When authorities arrived, they found Babcock physically stuck to the toilet.

McFarren told police Babcock had refused to come out of the bathroom for two years. Medical personnel estimated she'd been sitting on the toilet for at least a month and said the seat had adhered to sores on her body.

She is now under the protection of a guardian who was appointed through the legal department at the hospital where she received treatment.

Also Tuesday, McFarren was sentenced to six months in jail for an unrelated charge of lewd and lascivious behavior for exposing himself to a teenage neighbor in March.

That is almost too insane to comprehend. Yeah the shear issue of pressure sores and that unsanitary of environment. Gross. I really do feel sad for this couple. I wonder where other extended family is to assist. There had to be some signs someone could pick up on.

Update. I heard on the news that he was found not guilty.

Why does the outcome not surprise me given the American Judicial System.
