He must be a strong follower of "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime" philosophy.

Better that than a buffoon who brags about how much he gave away. This is why poverty continues to persist because they are disillusioned from actual reality. Gotta roll up your sleeves and get'em right in and dirty.

Just for clarification purpose, are these buffoons the like of Bil Gates and Oprah?
Because these two have done exactually what you said. Remember they are Dems.
How about a lot of those Hollywood stars? They too are Dems. How about those music stars? They too are Dems. They are ask doing actually what you say. How wonderful it must be to be a poor American with all these handouts of free fish.

You guys having been posting back and forth furiously. I can't keep up, so maybe I missed something. Other than Newt's sister supports Obama, exactly what point are you making about Gingrich?

Both Bill Gates and Oprah did much more than just giving money away. They changed the entire world. You can thank Bill Gates for being able to post here.

I was wondering why you didn't provide any sources to back this up. Now I know. You were talking about how much he donated in 2004.....which was 8 years ago.

And as for the tax returns.... in 2004, Obama gave 1%, since then his charitable donations have gone up to as high as 15%. Any of you donating the same percent? No? Hmm.....hypocritical much?

As for Obama not enforcing DOMA - Obama failed because he's not homophobic? He never promised to enforce DOMA.

and as for Gingrich - saw this on facebook: "If I understand it right he's depending on the daughters of his first wife to convince people that his second wife is lying about his third wife.

A whole new definition of family values."

Indeed.

At least that much and more, even when we were a young struggling family. For Christians, 10% giving is considered just the base line for tithes. Other giving, to missionaries, to individuals, to charities, etc., are above and beyond that.

(BTW, when we determine our 10% tithe, that's based on our gross income amount, before taxes.)

A) I haven't mentioned DOMA in this thread.

B) I mentioned Obama gives more now that he is under the microscope. In 2007 (year before election) he gave less than 6%

C) Yes, I give more than 15%. I consider 15% to be a very sad level of giving for people who have much.

Edit: by the way, you're a better person than me. I do give to charity, but just calculated the percentage of my gross income (before taxes). Wow it's REAAAALLLYYY low..... :-|

Just to clarify, since you are not American, do you know that every POTUS takes an oath to uphold and enforce all the laws of the land? Obama does not get to pick and choose which laws he will enforce based on his personal whims.
