I'm in my 50's and late-deafened. I was so glad that, when it came time for me to get BTE's after having worn ITE's for 10 years, color HAs we're available. I wonder if the manufacturers were surprised that adults were just as interested in the colors as the kids, whom they were making them for, were. I'm sure the audiologist weren't expecting it. There are probably Audis still out there not telling their adult clients that HAs come in a multitude if colors & the ear molds too.
Hope you don't mind me asking LoveBlue. With earmolds and BTE aids, you have to get new earmolds every year roughly due to the ear growing. What happens with ITE aids? Do they become too small eventually? I've always wondered but don't know anyone to ask
Actually, I think we (we, as in adults), who have BTEs, have to get new ear molds every year or so because the mold shrinks, not because our ears grow (though the cartlidge part of the ears never stop growing).
ITEs are hard plastic, so no shrinkage.
I had one of my ITEs for 10 years. The other, for 5 years. The difference is because I only wore one the 1st 5 years and when I went in to see if it needed adjusting or replacing, he told me to keep it and get one for my now-not-so-good ear.
Oh I've always been told that our ears never stop growing. Even hard molds eventually become too small.
I love my colored Naidas even tho its actually really hard to see them even with my hair up. HAs are getting tiny even tho my Naidas are huge compared to some HAs.
People still don't realise I'm deaf.
What color Naidas do you have? Are the Naidas better than the Ambras?

Got my new molds this morning. I ordered soft, but they were hard-- I really didn't care, so long as it took care of the feedback problem. He really thinks my beads on the tubes are enough of a fashion statement-- no need for color or glitter.
And I have never been known to complain about occlusion! I can put my left hand on my ear, and not get feedback, the right, about an inch away. I should be happy with them like this for quite a while.
Even the tinnitis doesn't seem quite as bad.
If your loss is moderately severe and severe, you would fit into the Naida S IX SPs which are the same technology as the Ambras but you would have more headroom in case, won't always happen but in case you loose more hearing.
Go to user control panel, under settings and options, go to edit signature, enter what you want, then save signature and you got it.
Yes, all the spice aids are available in the same colors! I have transparent purple.
I got fitted for a new mold for my left side on Friday. Can't wait to get it! I'm using Mack's silicone to hold it still right now (it's not tight enough as it was used for a bi-CROS) but that makes my ear cartilage sore. She also re-programmed my aid for my left ear. No more squealing, woo-hoo!
Off topic, but the weirdest thing happened today. I wanted to test and see if my CI implantation really did kill my tiny bit of residual hearing, so I put my aid on my right mold and put it in. Well before I could let go, I started hearing squealing in my LEFT ear! It was because my finger was over the mic. It was SUCH a weird feeling! It just passed right through my head! SO CREEPY!! I tried it with other sound but nothing went to the left ear but the squealing! Oh, and I heard nothing in my right BTW! They definitely got rid of my 5dB of 500Hz hearing ;P
Oh, okay, thanks for explaining! I'll ask my audi about the Naidas when I go to get my new HAs in the next couple weeks. So the casings are the same for all Phonak BTEs? For example, I could get the pure transparent ones for either Naidas or Ambras?
Looking at your test results. Your loss (high frequencies) is too good for the Naidas
That test was from over a year ago, and I think my hearing has gotten worse.. Getting another test right before I get fitted for new HAs within the next couple weeks! We'll see how that goes...
And yeah, every time I go to a different audi, they are always surprised by my spike in the high frequencies, since they typically slope down!
