would any of you be insulted if your partner got a translater for the day so they didnt have to translate all day for you fo guests of the wedding?
I realy want to know what you think about it!

Ask your partner...

I would like to have an interpreter at the wedding party.. but dont have to be tag along, only like.. after marriage, line up with people.. have an interpreter there. so your partner know who they are or talking about..
at the wedding party.. an interpreter will interpret the toast , prayer (maybe), photographer, song if dance, and something like that..

But IMO... ask your partner how he/she feels about it.. or what he/she wants..
but wish you the best.. :)

i understand and i plan to ask leo but i wanted to know what other ppl thought before i asked him to be sure if it is a good idea

How exciting you must be!!

Hope your plan go well for your big day next year.

I don't know if your deaf too? or just your partner?

I hired an Interpreter for my wedding to my hearing husband in a church and the Reception speech.

Because we have hearing family and hearing friends - it is so much easier to have an interpreter with us the entire event so we can relax and not deal with communication issues with these who dont know ASL during that day.

And our minister does not know ASL so the interpreter will help our deaf guests and of course, us :)

I'll be same Doofusmama's comment..

by the way, congrats to you wishes all the best your wedding!
Congrats again!

I do hire an interpreter w/us along w/Church/Recepition/everywhere til end..
Write letter to an interpreter "Thank you for provide us service the best for my wedding" Interpreter will not forget you! :)

Hopefully you will get an interpreter would be great benefits to get know more every word... by God's word for your marriage vows!

The interpreter doesn't "despise" (resent) them.

There are two meanings for the word "despite".

The way it was used in the posted sentence was this meaning:

Main Entry: although
Part of Speech: conjunction
Definition: even though
Synonyms: admitting, albeit, despite, even if, even supposing, granting, much as, notwithstanding, still, supposing, though, when, whereas
Source: Roget's New Millennium™ Thesaurus, First Edition (v 1.2.1)

That means, they used an interpreter even though they were both deaf. They didn't need the interpreter for each other but for communication with other people attending the wedding.

Thanks Reba for clarifying that for her! I was too tired to notice what she actually was asking me - didnt realize it was despise, not despite :)

First of all i like to say congrats!! I got married two years ago. We are both Deaf and most of my family are Deaf. So, we both decided to have an interpreter. It was brillant. We understood everything the priest said!! I think it would be nice if you have chat with your parnter see if your parnter agree! It a lovely thoughts. :)

Both my exh and I are hoh and we had our interpeter at our wedding cermony and it was wonderful. We just needed cuz we had our few deaf friends there. It help alot. I didnt have interpeter all day cuz it was very small wedding like 20 ppl there.

Ask your partner about it and its your wedding so if you both want interpreter there at the wedding, thats great. I dont think it will bother other guests becuz they would know you/fiance is deaf and its understandable that you want to know everything being said. Congrats and enjoy your wedding!! :h5:
