There is a co-worker who has a back problem. She only works a few hours a day on her feet. Well, she's been sick this week. Someone who's friend of hers said to get her a Get Well Card because she misses everyone, and I feel sort of weird doing that.
At first, she was okay with me, but for several weeks she's been kinda like she doesn't like me. She acts like she doesn't notice me or looks away, so I feel weird making her one. It's not that I don't care about her being sick, but I just don't feel any closeness to be able to write her a card. I mean...do I miss her? Not really, so I won't say that I miss her in a card. I see how sick she is, so I'd rather have her stay home and rest. Possibly find a better job where it's not so hard on her. She once returned to work when her doctor told her not to just because she was bored, but it's such a grueling work on even other people's back because you're standing on your feet for hours, so her being more sick is weird for her to keep that job.
I don't want to be mean, but do I have to write her a Get Well card? What if her friend start to wonder if I am insensitive? I thought they should get a card so that everyone signs it. I thought about it too late. That way it's better if you see what I mean. It's less personal, and I don't have to say I miss her. Not that I am mean, I just don't build personal relationships with co-workers especially if they don't seem to like me much for reasons I don't understand.
What do you suggest?
