Just like some other ADers, I'm not on a bus line. I can't ride a bike to work (too far, and not allowed on interstate), and Hubby must use his van for work.
Yes I can understand.
Do your country have road or path line for bicycles?
People who say, "just give up your SUVs" aren't suggesting a realistic solution.
Yes, we have nice bicycle paths in town. But we don't have them on the interstates. The interstates have break down lanes but they're not really intended for bicycles. The minimum speed limit on the interstates is 45 mph, too fast to pedal.Do your country have road or path line for bicycles?
That's fine if the people or equipment/products can fit in a small car. That's not always possible. If someone has six or more people and large, heavy equipment, one can't use a small car.Well, I guess that the people who suggest that we should give SUV up because of gasoline expenses. My hubby loves BMW or Jeeps but he choose small car over BMW or Jeeps because of gasoline expenses.
erm! Polluted free? That is hogwash! EVEN though train may not emit any pollution, still where do you think they got electricity from, eh? Of course power plant, more than 80% of the are filled with pollution, so therefore it is NOT pollution-free!
Think CARPOOL. Train reduce the pollution compare to cars.
Carpools work only for people who live in the same neighborhoods, and have the same schedules and destinations. That doesn't work for many people.Think CARPOOL. Train reduce the pollution compare to cars.
I paid $2.59 per gallon yesterday.I paid $3.25 per gallon takes $25 to fill up my car
In the old days, that would work.Carpools work only for people who live in the same neighborhoods, and have the same schedules and destinations. That doesn't work for many people.
Exactly! In the old days, that would work.
In the modern days, that wouldn't work.
In my parent's neighborhood, no one works at the same company. Imagine... over 100 houses and none of them work at the same company.
Maybe we need to revert back to the old times when horse carriers were used as transportation.
Gosh..living in today's society seems more complicated or more complex than it was during the 1800s?
If the day comes when more than half of us cant afford gas anymore, drastic changes will definitely have to be made or the economy will just go downhill big time. Possible to have another Great Depression?
You clearly said "pollution-free" and I disagree! Nothing is 100% pollution-free, period.
Ohhhh I am very sorry about little mistake about using the word "pollution-free".
Light trains obsiviously help the big cities with bad traffic, that's why Vancouver WA/Portland OR are going to set up the light trains connecting Vancouver and Portland.
In the old days, that would work.
In the modern days, that wouldn't work.

not necessary to be at the same company but closer location enough to share to ride together and drop them off next to other building.
The best to resolution is, if city have strict urban grow, mean great advantage for transportation: train and bus to make easy and best route to go work.
Look at Dallas and Fort Worth, they're so wide spread city zone and have difficult limited transportation mean more single driver to drive their own vehicle. oh dear!
I know that Dallas have start improve lately, more train route and add one in Grapevine share with Fort Worth, depend on neightbor city will allow. I know Arlington don't allow bus/train at all. Sad.
If you means "pollution reduction" then yup... I does agree about public transportation does offer but not always in most area, such as I like public transportation in LA, alot better than in Chicago because it does spread to suburb like OC, Riverside and San Bernardino since suburb of Chicago is vehicle only with little public transportation.
