Gallaudet

Hey, why should I even bother? I give honest answers in the past about my background and you use them against me? Heck, not even answering you still manage a way to use that against me. Burn me once shame on you, burn me twice shame on me. Hey, like, you know, forget it. The topic is on Gallaudet, not me. If you're on my good list you can PM and find out.

I don't think I'm on that list. LOL!

You're damn right your own information will be used against you if your posting shows that you are inconsistent in your aims and attitudes. If you have nothing to hide, then why does it matter?

This is about Gallaudet, not me. Once more, get it through your head.

relevant to this thread -

Well, if one wants a bit of a more educational challenge there are other programs to choose from in other universities. Just because one has a hearing loss isn't required to go to Gallaudet. Just do some research first before deciding.

what made you pick Gallaudet?

Okay, fair enough on the point that this thread is about Gallaudet. But don't hide behind that when your posts bring up reasonable questions about your motives and intentions.

I feel like I'm Glenn Beck because we're doing exactly same thing - asking hard-hitting questions that nobody wants to answer

you guys really know how to fill up a thread with useless posts.

Im VERy interested in RIT..... Ive requested a packet from them. We'll see how it goes :)

I have to warn you - RIT is in middle of.............. nowhere! that can make you feel depressed and lonely. Gally's in a city so... up to you.

Not saying IM a hermit but I dont really like going to clubs or anything like that. Rochester's location is fine, Im more interested and more impressed with the cirriculum than I am with Gallaudet's.

Very astute, Chuck. In today's world you need every resources to survive and compete by concentrating on the education aspect rather than look for a university that has this Animal House appeal. There are now colleges that offer 3 year track deal for undergraduates for those serious in getting good grades and graduating sooner (while saving money at the same time, too).

Degrees don't really means anything if you don't have a social network.

I know an "animal-house" partier... he got the worst marks in university's history (without failing) and he got one of the best jobs out there. Why? He was best friend with a professor and kept a tight circle of friends. Meanwhile everyone else in the program that graduated alongside him (and thereafter) are jobless.

However Gally and RIT will provide you a nice network of d/Deaf folks. :)

It's over-rated in a lot of cases. He's not interested in going to clubs and such. There are other means and ways of networking and establishing the right contacts.

clubs and such? that's not where majority of networking especially for science and engineering field came from. that's politicians :)

Yes and No. It will makes those peeps more wild by doing something odd to keep them from being bored out of their minds.

that is perfectly fine. Remember - it always looks good, sounds good, feels good on paper. that's the power of advertising. When you visit the campus - look around and get a feel of the campus - the vibe of people and professors, overall environment, etc. If you feel comfortable, chance is - you are much more likely to have a very productive, good college life and future career than a studious student who just attend college just for name-only. Also - it is likely that you may be the boss of that "studious" student. :hmm:

From your post - you mentioned that you wanted to major in computer science. You do know that this is a brutal field because it's high-paced and stressful job. Majority of big-name software companies such as google and microsoft - their employees are hired by reference-only from current/former employee.

regardless of what college you go to - you must try to put some effort in meeting people thru clubs (not the party club.. i mean college club), extracurricular activity, dorm activity, etc. What better place than college to find a few good friends of common, goal, common interest and common skill to work together? That's how google, yahoo, java, and microsoft were born... by 2 people from same college.

If you are more intersested in engineering major then it's rit. ( not ntid).

Yep. I was referring to the Department of Geology and Paleontology. :) A lot of the connections in that field come from "who you know," not so much what you have done. Awesome grades does go a long way, but... it kinda go hands-in-hands... write good thesis and you will get attention.

Yeah for sure. Some of the clubs seem pretty damn cool at RIT.

I thought NTID was RIT? If I go to the NTID.RIT.EDU website, and click on the programs it offers, it basically goes to the main RIT.edu website.
