Gallaudet University announces four presidential candidates

Hmm... what about NTID? Who will be the vice president / dean of NTID?

I'm glad they picked him for Gallaudet. He's a good guy. :thumb:

Not my intention; I only said that because there's already some gnarling and gnashing in some quarters......

U know what..u are right. Already at my work, there was a discussion of some people objecting to him because he was raised orally and believes in the oral philosophy. I hope it doesnt become another full-blown protest. Time to move on and let him do the job.

I agree it is time to move on and let Dr. Hurwitz to do his job. Even though he was raised orally by going to C.I.D; Still, he was able to have both worlds and that alone may help him be able to incorporate that for Gallaudet. Time is changing since there's a lot of more students that have CI's; Students that are mainstreamed; Students that requires more needs to be accommodated.

I just hope that it will prosper down the road for the better.

I am friends with his daughter and she is culturally Deaf. I dont want to ask her about her dad's view on oralism because that's not the primary focus here.

I agree.

I went to the same school as he did when I was a kid. Yet, I learned more when I moved to different schools as I got older. :)

<< slapping my forehead , The Gally board does it again !!! I knew putting the head of the Board there was a huge mistake. Especially after what he did to the deaf community !!! Not to mention Marlee Matlin too !!! Life goes on ...
 
Roz husband used to work at the computer center at Gally. He may have been fired or retired by now... Herb was his name...
 
I am ok with whoever president for gallaudet. As long as this president makes sure that this gallaudet school runs so well then everyone should be happy.


Jordan wasn't born profoundly deaf anyway and he was a president for gallaudet. He even learned ASL in a much later. No different.
 
Jordan was not an AGBell sympathizer...

And for the board to imply that Gally have not produced any people qualified to be president of the university is what rattles my chains.
