Gallaudet Syndrome II

I just happen to saw his video on youtube, what a crazy deaf driver who respond related to Gallaudet Syndrome;

do you realize - if we followed the concept of the magic pill, you would be doing totally different type of work?

Yeah, I know!

I've always said that I want to be such an effective advocate that soon my advocacy won't be necessary, though.

I think its funny almost every time I post something like this - no hearing parents of deaf kids that has ci's touch these threads.

I just visited the text version of this and they were certainly vocal in there. Maybe some are not so fluent as they claim to be, and couldn't understand the video?

Ryan raises some very good questions.

I really like his oil analogy and it is so true.

It is definitely 100% ASL not PSE nor SEE which they probably are more comfortable with.

Watched the video. Very clear explanation. I can see how people made profit at the deaf's expense.

PFH, :ty: for posting this video.

I may be wrong, but I think he is a passenger in a right hand drive vehicle. It looks like he is in some other country where traffic is made for right hand, I notice he is in the other lane going opposite direction. If he was in the USA, the vehicle is supposed to be in the opposite lane and you would see cars passing the opposite direction in the video.

Just a hunch, lol, it may be he is not in the USA.

Either this or he is driving on the highway..

Nah, even though I don't know this guy, I know who he is; he is driving, most likely using his leg. He is in Washington State.

He said he was driving. There are cars on the left to him going the opposite direction on a highway.

His signing style reminds me of a northwestern style too.

Agreed. But if you ask, they will tell you they are fluent in ASL. If they can't watch this video and understand what Ryan is communicating without having to stop and start so they can try to interpret line by line, they are not fluent.

I understood a great part of it, but shoot, the background is dark. *whimper*

Yep. I had to stop and go back a couple of seconds in two places myself. But the point is, we both understood the ASL.

I'm just getting very, very tired of all these claims of ASL fluency, and daily use at home, and oral schools being attacked by extremists, and children being threatened, etc. that never seem to get supported either literally or simply through action.
