Free food for Deafies at KFC

Eh?

I guess many of you didn't see that it was fake.

Yeah, do you remember when we thought we saw for real on the sign for AllDeaf or ALLDEAF on the Disney World in California or Florida and it turn out all fake? It looked real to me but I looked closely and it does not looked real at all. It was put on like a stage and everybody did not sign like ASL. That fooled me.

Eh, I could care less if it was free or not, LOL.

I mean, Kentucky Fried Chicken has been around me all my life and I am deadly bored of it. I'm sick of seeing it every day and I'm sick of seeing it everywhere in this state!

Yeah, It's something I gotta live with for living in this state, lol. :P

 My friend invited me to the KFC and I just feel like want to talk with him, then he offer me the free chicken, I was like okay and got it ;)

Free? Maybe they are trying to get rid of bad batch of chickens! I would avoid that!

Sorry I had to say that cuz I remember back then in late 70's KFC almost went out of business for selling expired chickens, which causes thousands of people getting food poisoning! Scary....

So, free? I'd pass!

There is a humor behind the meaning of the sign. I dont take it personal, but some deaf people might because it was throwing all the "deafies" in one bucket.

Didn't they get shut down one time for having a deep fried rat in one of the buckets or was that just an old wives tail. (or maybe a rat tail)

did they actually gave away a FRIED chicken or GRILLED chicken..

now that gets me thinking if KFC had gone to changed their names to KGC if they expanding on GRILLING chickens for the rest of year. :hmm:

U got a good point. If KFC stopped frying their chicked and grilled them, then the name would be false advertisement! I doubt that will happen as KFC is well known for their fried chicken.

Not exact same but very similar to OP... but here it is:

KFC denies reports of free-chicken riots

Chain overwhelmed by customers trying to cash in on Oprah promotion

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Customers at a New York City KFC hoping to redeem coupons for a free meal were disgruntled when the fast-food restaurant ran out of its new grilled chicken, but Internet rumors of a riot were unfounded, a Kentucky Fried Chicken spokeswoman said Wednesday.

"Some customers were upset because they couldn't get their chicken, but there was no riot," said Laurie Schalow.

Schalow said the Manhattan restaurant on East 42nd Street plans to begin honoring the coupons again Thursday after it resupplies the kitchen.

The coupons were available on Oprah.com for 24 hours beginning Tuesday after Oprah announced the meal promotion on her show. Each downloadable coupon can be redeemed for two pieces of grilled chicken, two individual sides and a biscuit.

KFC, owned by Louisville, Ky.-based Yum Brands Inc., introduced its new Kentucky Grilled Chicken about three weeks ago. The new menu item is being touted as lower in fat, calories and sodium than the traditional deep-fried chicken for which KFC is known the world over. It even has it's own secret recipe, kept under lock and key near the original 11 herbs and spices recipe for fried chicken created by KFC founder Colonel Harland Sanders.

Schalow said the grilled chicken has been a huge success, and the combination of a bad economy and Oprah's popularity created a "perfect storm."

"We prepared for it," Schalow said, noting that a KFC restaurant can only serve so many people during the lunch and dinner hours. "We didn't prepare for this extreme."

But Schalow said customers have until May 19th to redeem their coupons, Mother's Day excluded, and she encouraged the public to return later.

A spokewoman for Oprah's Harpo Productions in Chicago said they are not aware of any problems with the coupons.

Schalow said KFC restaurants across the United States were bustling on Wednesday because of the coupon offer.

"A lot of restaurants experienced very, very heavy traffic with people trying to redeem the coupons." she said, though KFC headquarters did not hear of any other problems with customers other than the those at the New York City franchise. "All stores are very busy today, very long lines, that's what we're hearing."

Schalow said some KFC stores may have run out of some products, such as mashed potatoes and gravy or cole slaw, "but they are substituting as best they can."

Aren't all chickens deaf. I've never seen a pair of ears on one. They don't have lips either :dunno:

Two types of chickens are commercially available. Broiler birds are bred to develop quickly for meat production, while egg layers are bred to attain a smaller adult size. Because we have observed breed differences in the response of central auditory neurons to cochlear ablation in adult birds [Edmonds et al. (1999) Hear. Res. 127, 62–76], we examined cochleae from the two breeds for differences in integrity. We evaluated cochlear hair cell structure using scanning electron microscopy and cochlear hair cell function using distortion product otoacoustic emissions (DPOAEs) and the auditory brainstem response. We observed striking breed differences in cochlear integrity in adult but not hatchling birds. In adult broiler birds, all cochleae showed damage, encompassing at least the basal 29% of the cochlea. In 15 of 18 broiler ears, damage was observed throughout the basal 60% of the cochlea. In contrast, cochleae from egg layer adults were largely normal. Two thirds of egg layer ears showed no anatomical abnormalities, while in the remainder cochlear damage was seen within the basal 48% of the cochlea. DPOAEs recorded from egg layer birds showed loss of high frequency emissions in every ear for which the cochlea displayed anatomical damage. Average sound pressure levels in both commercial facilities were 90 dB, suggesting these two breeds may exhibit differential susceptibility to noise damage.

Poor deaf chickens!!

Wow! Who knew?

Yuck.

I'd rather have homemade deep fried chicken which is much more tasty, and I can fry them myself. KFC's fried chicken isn't tasty at all. I never go there.
