For us, old timers

that's a cute monkey, Bott :)

Not always "girly".

My 8th birthday. My favorite t-shirts were from Western TV shows. I think I'm wearing "Restless Gun" in this picture.

I loved my cap-firing six-shooters.

Thanks dogmom.

And I relate to the lack of girliness too. I did not like Barbie but I did get a few of the GI Joe. If I didn't play with them and discard them, I would have a valuable collection.

Wow, Auntie I love love love your Barbies!

You are just the same, cute girl and still the same cute!!

I encourage you to do individual Barbie shadow boxes.

You can easily make this yourself with your hubby.

All you need is the mdf and hard plastic.

They would make wonderful heirlooms to pass down to your daughter and granddaughter. They would also make great displays on the wall too.

I LOVE DOLLS!!!! Love those green slippers, too!

I have my Barbies, which are about a decade newer than Reba's Barbies. The clothes are groovy! lol The clothes are starting to get in bad shape. I framed the dolls, clothes and shoes in display frames to protect them. I also like looking at them on the wall. I'll take some pics later and post them.

I also have my mother's dolls which are older than Reba's Barbies. They are hard material with wired limbs. An experienced friend rewired the limbs for me. Their clothes are long gone but I bought them some appropriate period clothes at a special doll shop.

I've never owned a barbie doll so I have no pictures to show you. I did own some stuffed animals but I don't know where they are now. :(

You'll have to show us pixs of them.

And a lot of patience!

You can't see it in the photos but the black dress has sequins sewn on it, the backs of the dresses and slacks have tiny snaps and hooks, the coats are fully lined, the bridesmaid gown used to have rhinestones on the bodice, and the skirt is lined with blue taffeta. Also, the red head doll is wearing a blue three-piece swim outfit; underneath the cover-up shirt was a strapless bikini top. Under the bridal gown, Barbie is wearing lace "pantaloons". Everything is very tiny and detailed. The red "Asian" cocktail dress has a mandarin collar, and slits on the sides of the skirt.

Also, she did all her sewing late at night after I went to bed. These outfits were surprise Christmas gifts to me. She worked during the day, and sewed at night. We were poor after my parents divorced, so it was a lot for her to do. She was a wonderful mom.

I'll try to dig up some older pictures. She also sewed school clothes for me when I was in early elementary school, and she used the scraps to make matching outfits for my baby dolls. She also sewed overalls for my teddy bear so he wouldn't be naked, ha, ha.

I am impressed by your mother's ability to make clothes for your dolls. My mother once knitted a blanket for my stuffed animals when I was little. She used to be into knitting and crocheting but she hasn't done it a long time.

I never had a Skipper. My grandmother was the one who sewed for me. She made Barbie clothes, too, and it took so much patience! Even the seams had to be small because of the size of the clothes! My grandma also made my Easter dress every year. I liked white gloves to go with the dress. Of course, white shoes and a small white purse, too! Good memories. I stayed with my grandma a lot and she was my mother figure. I sure do miss her.

Dynasty outfits sound very elegant! Please post pics if you have time.

My favorite Barbie outfit when I was a little girl was a wedding dress. It wasn't very fancy but it had silver sparkles and I thought it was beautiful.

Ha ha, an Alexis Carrington doll is what we need! :giggle:

An oldie is making a comeback!!

Clogs!

I am just so happy for that; clogs were good for me & my posture. I was a very-late walker at 2 years old because of my Usher's. I'd finally start running before I was 5 years old. My aunt looked at clogs and tried them on me; they actually helped my posture and supported me while walking.

Between you and me, I just loved how much power I got from those clogs. *Pow pow pow pow* from each step.

Clogs and cork shoes are coming back and I'm thrilled.

Even at my beautiful weight; you bet I will be getting the cork shoes with the lace-ups.

I'll try my darndest to tie up the laces on my beautiful thick legs!!

I remember that when I was 7, my parents went to the Netherlands (back when it was still called Holland) and bought my little sister and me clogs on their return from their vaction.

The shadow boxes are a cute idea but I just don't have any place to display them.

I have grandsons, no granddaughters. :)

I played with my brother's GI Joes.

When my grandsons were old enough, I bought GI Joes for them (and I played with them, too).

I still have their GI Joes at my house.

When I was little, I had action figures to play with.

I had a Batman and Robin action figure, the Joker and the Aqua Man action figure. I've been a Bat-Man fan since I was 7.

In the 3rd grade, I used to watch Emergency! so I got those action figures for my b-day or xmas. Don't remember which day it was.. I was also into the Six Million Dollar Man as well so I got that action figure too.

I stopped watching Emergency! because I developed a fear of fire.

Oh, my!

This is the poncho my mom made me to match Barbie's poncho.

It's a goofy picture of me but it's the only one I have that shows the poncho.

I'm sure that was a labor of love. :)

Oh, yes!

my mother made my Easter dress as well. She loved to sew.

I don't have any pictures to show as our childhood home burnt down (I lived there for 18 years too... it burnt in the 90's)

I loved the pictures

Little Plaid Riding Hood.

Ohhh forgive my mistake!

Grandsons; keep them for your future great granddaughters!

Don't laugh but sometimes the bathroom makes the best place to display Barbie!

Reba, love the old pics!

Ya'll remember ponchos and bell bottoms? I sported that look when I was about 8.

I played with "boy" toys, too. We played Batman and I was always the Cat Woman. *snort*
