I've seen a few unknown VP calls coming in lately, and I was wondering how you go about dealing with these? I've seen one from a (347) area code, and this is an unknown number, and it concerns me because none of the people here are from that area-- most of us are from IL, but one is from out of state, but not from the area code, though.

Ignore and delete.

Let me be a little more clearer. It's not the first time this area code has called us. Should've mentioned that. Also, we're not allowed to block any numbers on the Public VP, only those we personally own.

"Us?" "We?" Whose VP is it?

same - ignore and delete.

There is one VP here that's been set up as a Public VP for any of the deaf people who need to use one. That means no one who lives here owns it. However, several of us here DO have our own private numbers, so we don't have to worry about using the Public VP as much-- we use our own.

If you have your own VP why do you worry about the public one? Just don't use it.

In SC, each deaf person can get his or her own VP for free. Why do the residents of your house have to share one? Aren't they each entitled to a free one?

We have to apply for it. That's how I ended up with ntouch PC two years ago when my attempt to land a regular VP failed. Later that year, I discovered ntouch mobile for Android, which made things even better, because I could travel with that number I had back then. It would be nice if we got one for free right away, but there's a backlog here in the Chicago area-- it can take weeks or months to get one. This is why I prefer to fill out an application on-line, and then follow up right away, because it allows me to help people get what they need.

Just respond back with, "Wrong number..."....it happens all the time

Maybe that number comes from police station?

That's (312). (347) is out of state. Let me see where it's located at, since IL does not have an area code with (347). It's from New York City. Hey, Jiro! Know anyone there?

Answer it, and if you don't know them then tell them to stop calling. Easy.

Today I saw a missed call on my phone's caller ID, and it had an area code of 347. Probably a junk robo call. No big deal. We just ignore it.

Sure. Jiro knows everyone with that area code. Can't be that many.

I got them occassionally....:giggle:...it was a black dude...and I told him you must have the wrong #...and hung up....but he called back several times...so my son put on a long blonde wig and answered the call....:giggle::giggle:...it was hilarious....and his name was "Koolaide" or something like that....My son said...."Why you no call me?"....The guy didn't know what to say....and hung up....finally he did give up!

There is actually that many VP callers to be getting wrong numbers? Had no idea.

Oh yeah. The ones to watch out for are ones from area codes (202) and (876), as these are dangerous scammers. I see them, I just place them on my block list. Not that hard to do.

Callers from 843 are the worst.
