Food stamps at restaurants?

Maybe rules are different in alabama? maybe times have changed. i remember when my mother had food stamps, they were like actual stamps but green and you would tear them out from sheets.

that girl i was talking about - she can use her foodstamp card to pay for gas for her car. that surprised me.

They are used like debit cards or so they are here in Maryland.

Her food stamp card to buy gas?....that's news to me...but of course I don't get Food Stamps, so I'm very unsure about that.... Could it be the "Cash Assistance" card instead?.....I remmy a thread awhile back that those cards were being used in Hair Salons also...really pissed me off!

But, more and more, I'm seeing signs on doors at a lot of places that say "EBT Cards Welcome/Accepted Here"...it won't surprise me one iota that sooner or later, cigarettes/beer/alcohol will soon be accepted also.....

I had that before... a debit card when I first left my ex and had two babies. While they were going after my ex for child support. The debit card had cash assistance or/and food stamps You select which one you will use at the store. At the gas pump you have to use the cash assistance to buy gas. You can even go to an ATM and withdraw the cash off the card. I had it for like 3 months and I finally started getting child support, then the cash assistance stopped. My ex had to pay back the money that I got for cash assistance as well they took it from his income tax. It was a real big help to a struggling working mom with two kids at the time.

I was just being silly..I am sure many people dont even know how to butcher live animals or dont even want to.

Yea, I agree with the meat at a butcher being cheap. That's where my hubby and I go to buy our meat. Also, it tastes more delicious!

I didn't realize this. I have always assumed a butcher would be more expensive than a grocery store.

I'm 52 years old and I'm still learning how to shop smart. Only last year I figured out I could buy a 5 lb bag of potatoes and they would last ( about 4 - 6 wks) and not spoil. :)

I can make at least 4 or 5 meals out of 30 dollars at home. My average grocery bill is about 60 dollars a week. It could be even less if I weren't such a caffinee fiend.

Yeah is only one person is living in the house you could made $30 goes that far,
I was talking about a famliy of 4 people they could made two meal out $30. The cost of meat is crazy today!

I don't like it either. I just about lost it when my boyfriend's sister had to ask me to pay for diapers for her baby because she used her foodstamp card to pay for junk food from the Dollar General. Every night she came home with candy, junk food and soda pop and yet her baby had to wear the same diaper for two days. I was so mad I couldn't speak.

The poor baby! He/she must have a horrible diaper rash wearing dirty diapers all the time ! That is child neglect ,what does the mother feed her baby if she only buying junk food?

I remember on news here where I live....

The state, someone, asking the Food Stamp dept to explain why the state is paying the ATM where allow to get cash and play at CASINO.

Some friend talk about that and say support in someway such as take kids out for fun as entertainment for their mental stay health. Unless Obama sign to keep the economy up?

yeah
Me and Lee spend roughly 130 dollars every 2 weeks or so. It's hard at first but once you figure out what can keep in bulk and what is added value because of plastic and such it's not that bad to stretch a dollar. Requires a lot of work though. Lee cuts our meat instead of a meat cutter and I grow all our spices and bake bread and such.

Pop tarts and potato chips with onion dips. They do buy real food but she's too lazy to cook proper meals and would just opt for giving him whatever was in a box. I can't tell you how hard it was for me to refrain from smacking her.

Here(nz) they are looking at giving you whole benefit on a payment card so you cant purchase cigarettes/beer/alcohol(but at this stage they are talking about doing it for the youth benefit only)
