Florida teacher who had sex with three teens sentenced to 22 years in prison

Well...wish a few smookin.hot teaches i had at 17 would of victimized (roll eyes) me....
Instead i got a raw deal, homework, detentions,,,,

The boys were underage and was taking advantage of by their teacher , she trusted to with safety and welfare of the students . She was not there to be Mrs. Robinson . There is a law about having sex with underage kids.

There are laws about that, and while I find the act gross... I would not lable it rape, nor would I say there were victims. Furthermore, I do not agree that she should go to jail, especially for this crazy amount of time...
 
as a boy/man... I wouldnt complain unless the teacher was butt ugly and forced me. But if she was HOT... you better believe there was some braggin, that got the teacher in trouble.

as they say, Loose lips, sink ships !

I can bet you the boys had no complaints what so ever....it was the parents who made the stink.
 
Apparently some parents would not be bothered about their sons and daughters having sex with their teachers, and some would be bothered. I guess the teachers will keep on taking their chances that the prey they select have the parents who don't care and won't make a stink.

One question I am not seeing addressed by those that are in favor of this sentence is that of when are 17 year olds classed as minors or adults. I also wonder if who brought it up makes a difference in answering it.

They are considered minors in questions of sex.

Crime they can be tried as adults.

So. . . . . which are they????
 
Teacher gets 22 years for sex with 3 students

LAKELAND, Fla. -- A former Lakeland teacher who admitted to having sex with some of her students will spend the next 22 years behind bars.

Despite apologizing for her behavior, a judge called Jennifer Fichter, 30, a predator, then sent her to prison on Thursday for more than two decades.

"All I can say is I'm so sorry," the former English teacher told family members and the court.

When she was first arrested, she would grin during her court hearings, but there were only tears during her sentencing as the former teacher at Lakeland's Central Florida Aerospace Academy apologized and asked for mercy.

"I wish I could take it back, and my words are not going to suffice I know that," said Fichter.

ARREST AFFIDAVIT:Details of encounter with student

In a recorded phone call played in court, Fichter admitted to aborting a pregnancy with one of her young victims. She also confessed to having multiple sexual encounters with at least two other boys.

"You were pregnant and had an abortion, is that true?" one of the victim's mothers asked her in a recording.

"Yes, that's true," replied Fichter.

The judge heard from a psychologist who said Fichter had made bad choices. Her father also asked the court to get his daughter help.

But victims and their family members say the 30-year-old former teacher had shattered their lives. Preying on her teenage students. Meeting at parties, off-campus locations, and even her own apartment for sex.

"It hurts," said one mother addressing the court, "I saw myself losing my son before my very eyes and there was nothing I could do to reach him."

Prosecutors say Fichter lied to the victims' parents. She also had the students lie on her behalf, knowing she would be in trouble if she was ever caught.

Fichter faced up to 15 years on each of 37 counts of sexual contact with a minor.

Prosecutor say although she was tearful today, the former teacher was not remorseful at the time. And just because Fichter is female, and her male students were willing participants, does not make them any less victimized, they argued.

"If a man came in here today, your honor, and told you that he continually had sex with his teenage female students over a period of years, because it made him feel good about himself, he would be buried under the jail," said the prosecutor.

The judge sentenced Fichter to 22 years, which was three years less than a plea deal with she had rejected in April.

Fichter still faces charges in Hillsborough County, for having sex with some of the same students in that jurisdiction.

The default age of majority for age of consent, and for criminal culpability, and business contracts is 18 years. Whenever you see a case where the charges are moved from family court to criminal court ("charged as an adult"), that is an exception--it's not automatic. Also, there are exceptions to the age of consent, which vary by state. On a side note, even when someone under 18 enlists in the military, it's an exception that requires both a parent/guardian waiver, and high school diploma--it's not automatic.

So, they are not "considered minors in questions of sex" only.

Its not automatic no one has argued the stste trying minors as adults was.but the state when it feels fit does do so,when it suits IT.in other words the state moves the gol posts when it wants..but not for sex. Thats some mystical no no 17 year okds just could never consent to possible do....(roll eyes), unkess a parent consents...yeah righhht...spare me...
So the idea that 17 year olds are mere.children. that couls never wver give consent is hogwash. Why csnt 17 year olds mere months away from the magic number of 18 not possibly give consent? Why? If the state argues that certain crimes call for adult trials, due to the child.acting as an adult and knowing what they did. Then automatic claiming all and every single 17 yearr odd are victims when it comes to sex, until midnight qs they m@gicaly turn 18... and seconds before they are still victim chikldren, thiugh second wfter full blown.cinsenting adukts ok for porn and or what ever is nuts.

Thats prob true. regardless 22 years in prison for consensual sex is a travesty of justice.

In the cases of trying minors as adults, the minors have been accused of committing a crime.

In this case of the teacher and students, the minor students weren't the ones being accused.

Two totally different situations.

You don't know that she would have gotten a lesser sentence for serial raping three people.
