Fire & Police dept knocking on my door..

:jaw: awwww you hurted my feelwings. *pouting*

:laugh2: Dang it gal! I'm from Florida for crying out loud!

My Floridian backside is not used to this kind of weather!!!

I wonder if I can suffer from PTSD from this! :giggle:

Here's a tissue, girlfriend!:giggle:

It could bring on an extreme case of SAD (depression from lack of outdoor sun exposure.):giggle:

Thanks!

I just wish I had a fire place to heat up my home. Better yet an antique woodstove.

I will really be depressed when I see my electric bill!

It does!! Makes you go DANG! (with the bill)

I do too! I find fire places so soothing. On cold weekends. We often build up fires outside big or small. I love 'em!

especially with Oysters roasting!!

Oh wow!!

I love em with salt or with hot sauce.

Put them over the fire until the shell pops open!

Yummy!

I even have my very own oyster knife :D

That will make flames shoot out of any one chimeny!

Never had an oyster roast over a fire place.

Just outside :giggle:

Just be prepared to spray a lot of air freshener when you do it over a fireplace! And, yes, I love hot sauce with oysters, too. My fav is Louisiana Hot Sauce. It has heat plus flavor.

Absolutely no crackers. Just put the hot sauce on, and slurp them down! I promised a friend I would make Bar-be-qued shrimp this week-end. Pass around the bath towels and get good and greasy while you eat, LOL!

Consider yourself extremely lucky! Chimney fires are not funny.

Good to have thoughtful neighbor. :)

Here's the scene. I'm sitting in my recliner enjoying the fireplace and the news when I hear talking out side my door I ignore it and go on about my business. Next think I hear a tap on my door so I get up and leave the chain on and open the door mind you it's 10:45pm I'm a single mom I'm not fixing to open my door. There is a police officer there. I tell him to hang on a second while i put my dogs up. I get them put up and my cell phone starts ring. I hit the talk button but leave it laying. I opened the door and there is like 20 firemen out side along with 10 cops and 2 ambulances. They said a neighbor behind me called 911 reporting flames coming from my chimmeny. I start freaking out, shaking and tears rolling down my face. Turns out I had too many logs in it. They double checked the attic space, the chimmney floot and okayed everything. They pulled out the extra loggs and put them out outside.
I am completely freaked out. Calm now but that was freaky..

Glad to know it went without much of a hitch. Didn't the size of the fire give you any doubts that you may have used too many logs? I've done this before, but from using oversized logs - the size of the fire was pretty enourmous reaching well upside the fireplace draft! I called that huge inferno an afterburner! (a term used to describe a warplane's maximum thrust) LOL

Glad you are ok. I do have pellet stove and I used them. I love it. It help me save some heating oil. As for electric bill for that month it wasn't bad at all as I thought.
