Oh, I'm pretty sure there are plenty of terrorists within your country. It's still easy to get into your country. I should know because I visit the USA quite often. Never had a problem getting into the USA, heck sometimes I don't even have to show my ID. That's no longer true anymore, I will have to show my driver's license and birth certificate at the border from now on, which I've always done whenever asked to. The American/Canadian border is hardly secure, it's a joke.

I agree with you there as its the largest and longest unguarded border in the world. Maybe it's time we put up a fence like we are doing on the Mexican border. :)

We do arrest terrorist suspects, but they aren't reported to the mainstream media since it's confidential information. Nobody is perfect, we can't always spot a terrorist suspect even if someone else could. It's the same the other way around. Remember, you live in a country where major headlines concern Britney Spears and some other celebrities like Paris Hilton. Pretty everything get reported in your country including information that were supposed to be confidential in the first place. Honestly, I don't think we should have reporters travelling with the military in Iraq and other countries because it put the soldiers at even more danger when they already are.

Again, Freedom of the Press.

Doesn't matter, they do not patrol for Canada. It's their habit to roam everywhere even into territories they aren't supposed to enter. Remember what happened with Iran? Americans were taken prisoners because they were not too far from their territory. Yes, Americans didn't do anything wrong, but they were still taken as prisoners because of the tension between the US and Iran government.

Are you referring to the American Embassy take over by the extemists?

Americans are still entitled to their rights as stated in the constitution. For the last decade, their rights have been compromised more and more for "national security" purposes. This is just another step to taking some of people's freedom away for good.

I disagree especially when it comes to matters of safety and security of our nation.

Let's discuss your bedroom activities then since you are openly homosexual. Sodomy is still illegal in some states, even though it is unconstitutional, it's still illegal. What? Would you rather not discuss it? Well, that's hiding something. If you don't mind discussing it, that doesn't matter because most people would rather not discuss their intimate details with the public. People like their privacy.

Sodomy laws have been overturned by the SCOTUS. Secondly, how can I be a 'openly homosexual' if I am currently dating a woman?

I am quite familiar with world history and the government participating in certain activities can be recognized as a threat to the citizens of a nation. It's not about what you have to hide, it's about keeping your rights rather than losing some.

Again, debatable.

I could go on and on about why people have and should preserve their rights. You do not either deserve liberty nor security if you are willing to give up your rights.

Its also called being responsible for one's freedoms. If an individual isn't reposible in terms of their freedoms, they will lose it. Hence what the news article pertains too. It's a known fact that if one commits a crime, they lose their priviledges as an American.

Careful there, you are echoing the Nazi government's agenda. You do show some signs of being a fascist/communist. This is what the Nazi government did to the Jews. They took their weapons away and then proceeded to kill them, rob them of jewelery and such. People are still given the right to bear armed for a good reason. To protect themselves from the government when it becomes a tyranny.

Sounds like you are afraid? Well...I'm not afraid of my government because I am part of the government.

If he was alive today, he would smack some sense into you. He was one of the most outspoken men when it came to liberty and national security.

And he would know that our national security would come first before liberty.

You have made it quite clear that you support certain ideals of fascism. Not liberalism or any sorts
.

And knowing that Canada is a socialist country and the comments coming from you, don't suprise me.

All the Founding Fathers and those involved with the writing of our Constitution are dead. So should we just chuck the whole thing?

BTW, the bird he suggested was the native-to-North America wild turkey, not the Butterball that we see now.

And it cooks nicely at 425 degrees.

Definately a GOOD idea! Anything to help fight against criminals and terrorists.

Those people that are against it, do you have something to hide?

Anything? Good, lets go with that.

Curfew should definately be in place. No one out after dark without a valid reason signed by your employer and the chief of police. Darkness facilitates criminal activity, you know.

Traveling any further than say 20 miles from your house should require a permit, seen as criminals and terrorists profit from being able to move about freely and unmolested. If you wish to shop in a neighboring town you should apply, and wait for, a one day shopping permit. If you cannot make it on the day specified, please reapply.

Those two should do for starters, there are more waiting in the wings.

Your country wasn't attacked, ours was. Therefore we have every right to have the latest in technology in terms of tracking down criminals and terrorists.

Byrdie, I think what Banjo is saying here, and I would agree with him, is that even though the attack pointed to severe problems in security that needed to be fixed, (which were originally caused by politicians) the government can not be trusted to be benevolent with the "fixes" that are made. "The sole purpose of the State is to erode the rights of the individual" That is why we must keep a reign on the politicians. They will abuse their power if they are not ALWAYS watched. Please read the following excerpt about when Bill Clinton was in office on this topic.

Presidential Waiver

Yet, there is final proof that corporate profits overrode global national security inside the previous administration. The Motorola story ends on a classic Clinton note, with a single letter written to Commerce Secretary Ron Brown.

"Dear Ron," wrote Motorola CEO Gary Tooker in July 1995. "I am writing to thank you and some key members of the Commerce Department for your assistance in obtaining the Presidential waiver for encryption export sales to China."

The 1995 Motorola letter is proof positive that Bill Clinton is directly responsible for the present-day U.S. intelligence disaster. Bill Clinton turned America's spy network into a personal cash cow, aimed at pleasing big-dollar contributors instead of protecting the free world.

If any single person is responsible for the sad state of our NSA and CIA today, it is Bill Clinton.

Exactly my sentiments.

We also have to remember that what the FBI wants, they won't necessairly get.

I used to worry about Hillary becoming President, and I still do, but as far as the FBI goes, it would be interesting to see what happens because Hillary can not stand them, and they do not like her at all! My gosh how in the world will they be able to protect our national security when most likely she'll just be fighting with them and calling the four letter words like she did when she was First Lady?

:eek3: That is a frightening scenario!

Unfortunately when people believe that fighting criminals, having safety, and preserving law and order, are more important than freedoms -- That is what you get.

I have a friend who has a house bound cat; she never lets it out because studies have proven that cats allowed outside live shorter, more dangerous lives.

But if I were a cat I think I would trade some of that safety for one good howl at a full moon from someone's back porch fence.

Men sentenced to life in prison live longer healthier lives than those on the outside -- 100 years is not uncommon -- But how many men would voluntarily be sentenced to life in prison for those improved chances of living that long?

She's got to be elected first.
