Not having a conscience is not the same as not being able to differentiate between right and wrong. That is the whole point. Not having a conscience in no way implies that he didn't know it was wrong, but just that he didn't give a damn that it was wrong. His desires were the priority to him, and he did not care about the well being of anyone he hurt in order to fulfill his desires. That is classic APD.

Most would, if it meant the difference between getting what they want and not getting what they want. While this is an extreme case, someone with APD doesn't respect familial boundaries anymore than they respect any other boundary.

Josef Fritzl admitted locking up his mother until her death in the same house as he later imprisoned his daughter and the seven children he fathered with her, London's Daily Telegraph reports.

The 42-year-old Austrian made the claims to a psychologist who was preparing a report on his mental state ahead of his trial in February next year, the paper reported.

"I locked [my mother] up in a room at the top of the house," Fritzl said in the leaked psychologist's report. "I then bricked in the window so that she never again saw the light of day."

Fritzl told neighbours that his mother died around the time he took ownership of her home in 1959, but an Austrian newspaper claims she did not die until 1980, suggesting that she could have spent 21 years in the locked bedroom.

It emerged in April that Fritzl has kept his daughter, Elisabeth, locked up in a purpose-built room in the town of Amstetten where he sexually abused her across 24 years, the paper stated.

But the paper states that Fritzl's friends have expressed doubt that he could have also kept his mother hidden in the house for so long.

The 73-year-old told the psychologist that he wanted to punish his mother for his loveless, brutal childhood.

"She used to beat me, hit me until I was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. It left me feeling totally humiliated and weak," he said.

"My mother was a servant and she used to work hard all her life, I never had a kiss from her, I was never cuddled although I wanted it - I wanted that she would be good to me. But the only thing she ever did with me was to go to the church."

The revelations are contained in a 130-page report compiled during six interview sessions by Adelheid Kastner of the Wagner-Jauregg mental asylum in Linz.

When asked if this had played a part in his decision to lock up his daughter, Fritzl is quoted as replying: "To be honest I just didn't think about it, about her being my daughter, I saw her as my wife and as my partner."

Fritzl also told the psychologist that he was "born to be a rapist". Dr Kastner advised that he was not insane, but was a danger to the public and should never be released from prison.

Charges against Fritzl are yet to be finalised.


:eek3: Good Grief! Locking his own mother too for about 21 years in a locked bedroom until she died. He is a very evil man and he should spend the rest of his life locked up to rot in jail!

Every time I read a story about Joseph Fritzl, It just disgusts me to see all of this. I mean, Good Grief, He's doing that to his own mother too.

I just find it interesting when it is noted that Joseph Fritzl claims to be a born to be a rapist? I don't think anyone would in their right mind know that they are born to be a rapist.

Yeah, Anything could be a possibility as to why He felt that he was born like this way, but you're right, in any either way, He is a danger to others.
 
Koala, :ty: for update the news but it's hard to beleive that he did to his mother... If it's really true which mean is his wife and children know what and how he did to his mother for long years? If yes, it mean that they are INVOLVED... I doubt his story about mother... I guess that his story influence that they would send him to mental home instead of life sentence ... :hmm:
 
He knows he is never going to set foot as a free man ever again, so he is trying to find his way to a mental institution where they will coddle him for the rest of his life.

Given the brutality of his crimes, he shouldnt be allowed the option of spending the rest of his life in a mental institution, I believe he should remain in prison in a tight dark cramped cell and and never allowed to see the light of day.

The dark heart of Austrian incest monster Josef Fritzl is laid bare in a series of psychological profiles drawn up ahead of his trial which begins in two weeks.

Extracts of the examinations show 73-year-old Fritzl knew exactly what he was doing when he locked up daughter Elisabeth in a secret basement dungeon.

In his latest version of events he paints her as a solvent-sniffer who he was trying to protect from herself.

'It was in the summer of 1984 that I found my daughter lying totally apathetic in bed,' he told Dr. Adelheid Kastner, Austria’s most famous psychologist in the interviews leaked to an Austrian magazine this week.

Fritzl claimed he kept his daughter prisoner to stop her from abusing solvents

'She had been sniffing cleaning fluids and I decided I should talk with her in my cellar,' he says of the day she vanished.

'We did that but she reacted to my accusations with a couldn’t-care-less attitude. A dreadful anger developed in me and out of this anger I decided to lock her up.

'And because in the coming days she showed no improvement in her attitude, I decided to keep her locked up.'

Over the next 24 years Fritzl would rape his daughter repeatedly, sometimes as many as three times a day.

She bore him seven children in the darkness; one died after three days and was burned in the house’s wood-burning stove and she miscarried another.

He spoke of how he provided food to the dungeon without worrying about his neighbours seeing him: 'Sometime I took food for my secondary family into the cellar in the full light of day.

'And in addition, no-one enquired if I took tiles, iron cabinets, TVs and furniture into the cellar, nor when noises could be heard coming from it.'

Fritzl remains convinced, on one level at least, that he was the 'good provider' for the family which lived in darkness and never saw sunlight.

In a ghastly parody of normal life, he told the doctors: 'We celebrated many occasions together - Christmas, Easter and birthdays.

'And the little ones had a lot of books, and also pets; fish and a budgie.

'They didn’t miss anything as I really tried to make their life in captivity as pleasant as possible.

'We played, we chatted, we laughed in the cellar, we actually led a completely normal family life…'

This self-illusion of himself as the patriarch of a happy family is totally at odds with the reality painted by Elisabeth in which she was raped in front of the children, where the cellar was rat infested, where the children were beaten by him if he did not approve of their attitudes.

Indeed, of the abuse of his daughter in front of the incest children he forced her to bear him, he said: 'Naturally I turned the light down and later, when there was more room, I sent our new generation into them….'

Frau Kastner said she was so shocked by his demeanour during interviews that she would have to go home, shower and listen to classical music to prove to herself 'that there was still some beauty in the world'.

Fritzl is due to stand trial on March 16 with a verdict expected March 20. He faces a charge of murder over the baby that died in the cellar, incest, rape, slavery, cruelty and false imprisonment.

I wouldn't be surprised if the reason she was huffing was because he had been sexually abusing her even before he locked her up, and she was trying in her own way to cope with the horrible situation. :(
 
Daughter Confronts Father in Video Testimony in Austria Incest Trial

The murder and imprisonment trial of Josef Fritzl entered its second day Tuesday, with the defendant responding to video testimony by the daughter he allegedly locked up and raped over 24 years.

Fritzl was expected to take the stand Tuesday, March 17, as the court continued to hear the 11-hour video testimony by Fritzl's daughter, Elisabeth. But his lawyer, Rudolf Mayer, told AFP news agency that his client had little to say.

"He's already said everything," Mayer said as he arrived at the courthouse. He would not comment on Monday's proceedings. Fritzl was questioned at the start of the trial after the first excerpts of Elisabeth's testimony were shown.

Court spokesman Franz Cutka said Elisabeth's statements, which were videotaped to spare her an appearance in court, were expected to be shown in their entirety during the trial.

He said authorities had also recorded just under an hour of further testimony by one of her brothers, Harald. No other family members agreed to testify.

Cutka said final pleas "could be made on Thursday morning and that means we could expect to have a verdict on Thursday afternoon."

Austrian broadcaster ORF reported that expert opinions would play a significant role in the trial. The court is to hear the findings of psychiatric specialist Adelheid Kastner, as well as from experts in neonatology, electro mechanics and ventilation technology, ORF said.

Fritzl pleaded guilty on Monday to incest, rape and sequestration. But the 73-year-old denied murder and enslavement charges. He depicted himself in court as a victim of family neglect during his own childhood.

The prosecution alleges that Fritzl murdered his own baby in 1996 by failing to provide it with appropriate medical care. Fritzl testified that the baby was stillborn and that he burnt the body. He faces life in prison if convicted of the charge.

His lawyer, Mayer, argued that the retired Austrian engineer had sought a second family to the one he had with his wife Rosemarie.

But Austria's press has described him as the embodiment of evil.

"This is the face of evil," read the headline of the daily Kleine Zeitung, alongside a picture of Fritzl hiding his face behind a blue document folder as he arrived at the courthouse for the trial's opening.

"A coward till the end," said the tabloid Kronen Zeitung, while the Kurier said: "Fritzl only feels sorry for himself."

I only know that he explained his reason why he lock her daughter due her wild behavior. She disrespect him a lot. He claimed about her daughter make no sense to me. Accord Elisabeth´s statement that she was being sexually abused by her own father when she was a child.

If he strongly claim that her daughter disrespect him a lot then I don´t blame her after what and how he did to her. Do he expect that he should get the respect from her in returnafter what and how he did to her when she was a child?

Sorry, his statement make no sense to me... It´s a feeble excuse!!!!!!!!!!!! because he raped her when she was a child before he lock her for 24 years... He built the room in basement for several years to prepare for her daughter... I would ignore his statement... It´s load of rubbish and feeble excuse. I hope the court will see the sense why he built the room in basement several years before he lock her.

 
What will happen wih children that was held in basement? Any updates? at least Justice is served!!
