Facebook will soon share users’ phone numbers and addresses with 3rd parties

Does this mean Facebook will post your phone and address either if you DID NOT put in yourself?? This is insane , Facebook is going to make it easier for sex offenders to find underage kids and women! I hope this will never happen!

I just remember when I was doing a family research I found my dad name and DOB and his SS# on line . My dad is dead but it still was a shock to see this! I also found my mom DOB and her SS# on line and she was still alive at the time!! It is not hard to find out info on a person today!

the only way to find them is to look up a certain personal information. and that's how they find you too. if you put nothing in your facebook, then how do you expect old friends to find you?
 
Yeah, this news has been around for a while. I have handled it by not putting my address or phone number on FB. I suggest that you do that, too. Your town is OK, but they don't need your street address.
(I decided to reopen my FB account because my friends begged me to. So I did... )

Anyone with a social security number, bank account, and a home address has their information ready for just about anyone to read.

Your personal info is available to anyone in all your doctor's offices, your schools, and insurance companies. Do they lock all your records in a safe? Of course not. Look on your doctor's office shelves. See all the files on everyone? Anyone can make a copy of your info and sell it to thieves.

The internet is 0% safe.

If you have money, you can buy personal info on anyone, anywhere.

The only way to ensure your privacy is to live in the woods with absolutely no contact with anyone.
 
Well gee - let's just get rid of the internet and go back to living like they did in the 1800's.

there you go. your private information is already being shared/sold to third parties. it doesn't really matter if you put CC info in FB or not.

what FB doing is not evil and ya'all should be more understanding because Zuckerburg publicly addressed this issue and he does listen to your concern. How many companies do that? basically none. and they don't care about you.

remember - Facebook is a private company and you're taking advantage of Facebook..... for free.

I was trying to see if I could find anyone ,I do not like putting up personal information.

You have no problem entering your friends' personal information in order to find them.... and yet you don't like putting up your personal information...

Who said I put anyone personal information on facebook! I just type in names and see what come up! My sister found one of our old friend this way,
she did not post any personal information about the guy. It is none of my business to post someone else personal information on facebook or any other sites! I would really pissed off if someone did to me so I would not do it to someone else! Do you always jumps conclusion!

there you go. you typed in their names. that's a personal info. all keywords in search engine are saved for their analysis purpose. and marketing. and anything else.

You cant avoid it happening every single thing cos it be impossible. There always something you have to let information go like hospitals, schools, work, bank details, etc etc etc.
 
Right. I am on FB and I accept that I am putting my personal information out there. My privacy settings on there are strict - everything is set to either ONLY ME or FRIENDS ONLY. So I've never gotten any spam, junk, whatnot. And what I do put out there because I play games, etc., I knowingly take that risk. Same for other sites.

What is this site you are talking about. If anyone is useing their cells to serf the web then they are out there. also check you privacy settings on facebook . make sure you check dont give information to 3rd party users. This will stop this. or at least it is supost to ..

What have I been saying since I came back?? I know it has happened and will happen more frequently..forget the privacy settings mine were very high and still..my pictures and some personal information ended up on another site.

Please, Please hasn't anyone noticed FB is somewhere in every TV commercial practically? They have encouraged individuals and familys to not only give their info but they suggest friends even???? FB BIG NO FOR ME ! smile sorry to get so worked up, but this is one subject that I have personal experience with..Peace to all..Midnight♥♥♥

I am on FB, sighhhhh...
I seldom check it out but others have managed to hack into the account for the purpose of sending spam. (I had a trusted friend set the privacy settings to the strictest possible, but apparently it didn't stop the scammers.)
Recently someone has been using my yahoo email account to send spam to my friends, specifically Viagra ads, arghhh. A couple of my friends have blocked any more emails from me, and I had to reset the password to my IM, since it was compromised. Isn't life grand?
