another bomb found at MBTA Harvard Square.

People also left a lot of their belongings on the ground when they panic and ran so all of these items have to be checked to see if they have a bomb in it.

CNN said both bombs were small, and initial tests showed no C-4 or other high-grade explosive material. Kind of small bombs?

Small meaning not strong enough to bring down a large building. These kinds of bombs are designed to do maximum damage to people's bodies, not to structures.

The bombs where planted very low , I keep thinking what if was some crazy
person that could not get into race and they where getting back by killing and hurting the runners.

I wouldn't even begin to speculate the motive or who did it. Not yet.

I checked on my friend, a student at Boston College. She's not a runner but an EMT, so I didn't know if she was on scene. She was not.

I knew it was not C-4 or high-grade explosive material. it's too obvious that it was a homemade bomb. It's similar to what Eric Rudolph used but not likely. Rudolph used dynamite and nails.

coincidentally enough - 2 people died and about 150+ were injured from Rudolph's bomb.... and in this case, 2 people died and 100+ are injured.

and you do not really need to do test for C-4 because it has a very distinctive smell that can be immediately and easily identified by EOD or even veterans.

based on several pictures (including a guy on wheelchair with missing feet) and a death of 8-years old child... definitely was planted on the ground.

I was there for the marathon. I left about 20 to 30 minutes before the bomb went off. I biked home with my IPOD playing through my FM system so I didn't hear any of the ambulances. I found out about it when I got home.

As of right now, they have confirmed an 8 year old boy was killed.

I've contacted people that I know who live in the area and everyone is safe.

Those poor people. It's going to be a long road for them.

Glad to hear from WDYS & VG234. Any others from that area that we haven't heard from? Of course, being the marathon, others from other parts of the country could have been there too.

Yes, the marathon is very much an international event.

As far as I know now, there are still ambulances in Boston waiting in case something happens. They are lined up outside a friend's apartment.

As far as what the news says, they are looking for a guy who had two back packs. They think he may have dropped the packs. At this time, there is nobody in custody for it.

From where I was on corner of Darthmoth St. before the explosion, the crowd was moving pretty good by that side walk. However, there were people stopped to look at the finished line so it wasn't totally flowing freely. So, I'm thinking time delay or cell phone.

The bomb scare at JFK which is nowhere near the finish line was not a bomb at all.

now 3 dead... 141 injured... 5 possible undetonated devices....

I think the back pack theory is unlikely if they are finding more explosives. And, probably not someone working alone.

Gov Patrick has said people taking the subways should expect delays, bag checks. I'm sure that goes for the trains and Logan as well.

I think those two bombs were backpacks and rest aren't. you're probably right that this ain't a work of loner.
