Exciting news about me being in an article for Bands Of America in their magazine!!!

thanks guys! during the winter season, the centerville drumline is also going to be starring in a movie, well a documentry called Rhythm generation. It won't be released until the middle or the end of may. But you will see alot of signing from me in the movie :) And see my friends sign as well. I don't know if there is going to be CC on the documentry. But i'm pretty sure you would understand my signing in it. And in a few weeks i'm going to be doing a follow up interview with one of the camera guys in a few weeks. The documentry is based on the whole drumline really, but only few of the people in the drumline will get to be interviewed. And i got that chance. And they been kind of following me around asking me a bunch of questions. So, i'll let you know for more updates until that time.

Let us know!!

BTW, did anybody in your band fainted while practicing during the hot summer days? I saw a few guys in my marching band fainted from heat exhaustion under the hot Georgia sun in August, one month before school started. When do you guys first start practicing the formation and coordination? Do you do it outside or inside?

nobody fainted during marching season when i was a freshman. Most color guard people and a few people who were marching got hurt from either having knee pain or broken fingers or did something stupid to hurt themselves. Probably due to marching in the wrong drills or throwing a flag or a sword or a prop in the air, the wrong way. But I passed out during winter drumline, i was in A-line in '08, playing the marimba. We had WGI championships near the end of april, and there was a huge hill where we had to push all the keyboards up the hill and it was very exhausting. We were wearing winter vest, tan capris, black shirts underneath, a jungle hat and hiking shoes for our show uniform. And as soon we got up the hill we had to take a group picture, and i wasn't feeling too good at the moment. I was really hot and we haven't ate anything for dinner. Just as we were about to take our picture, I passed out in front of everybody. 2 of my friends caught me from behind. My good guy friend thought i was joking with him when i wasn't. I have a history of passing out but it is rare. I only pass out when i have low sugar or if something grossed me out. So 2 of my directors freaked out, one of our nurse came over and gave me a snack and the photographer gave me some sugary drinks to get my sugar level back to normal. my percussion director acted as if he was my dad. He bend down to me while i was laying on the floor trying to cool off, and shared his snack with me that he had in his backpack. I was embarrassed. As soon as i felt fine i got up and walked to our truck where we put all of our drums, keyboards and electronics at. Most of my friends came over to me to make sure that i was okay. They gave me some ibuprofen because my implant was hurting me, they gave me gum and suggested that i get a chocolate milkshake :D . Overall things went okay afterwards. But i'm hoping that i won't have to go through with that ever again. So whenever we have to go to a competition, i ALWAYS get worried or nervous about the hills at a stadium or basketball arena because i do not want to pass out again.

Interesting, you play the marimba -
marimba - Google Search

I played the drums, tympani, and xlyophone when I was in the middle and high school bands. The only thing I'm continuing is my piano, of course. Oh, and I'll be putting out a ragtime march piece called "A Breeze from Alabama" (a lively piece!) soon on Youtube via my blog. I have a new camera with a better video and microphone. :)

with you passing out I am guessing they already knew about your tendency to have low sugar since you mentioned they were giving you snacks to help recover so quickly.

hahaha yeah, after that event, we had to go back to the high school because we were holding another event, called the centerville preview show. it didn't end until like 11. We stopped at mcdonalds for a quick dinner on the way back. my friends bought me a chocolate milkshake there :)

We are usually being given snacks before an event after a long travel to indiana (where we usually have our BOA regionals and championships--BOA means bands of america as you probably seen from the article) We also went to st.louis for marching band for about 2 days last fall. My dad is part of the pit crew too. Pit crews help get all the stuff off of the truck and helps the Front ensemble or helps the hornline get the props on field and off field for those who don't know what those are. We are always given water before our show. But we are also given a small snack so we don't get too nervous. I'm still trying to figure out how to protect my cochlear implant from unexpected rain. Because during a football game at a halftime show, it started raining, luckily my dad was there with a plastic bag and i wasn't able to perform during that time due to the rain and me not having my CI on. But i'm pretty sure i can perform without my CI on, i just have to look in and feel the drumset vibrations behind me to keep in tempo.
