Embryonic Stem Cell Lines Approved for U.S. Research

I wonder if someone will find fault with Obama for approving this. :hmm:

Yeah, they care more about a few embryo cells than a sick person.

I think i will stop working for taxes. majority of it will just end up funding these things

Adult stem cells and cord blood see greater success and potential than do embryonic just on a scientific basis alone. But here's the kicker. In just five years after Proposition 71 was passed California Institute of Regenerative Medicine has recently awarded $230 million dollars in grants for stem-cell research aimed at clinical applications where 10 of the 14 grants are for adult stem cells research. Wouldn't one to conversely think that embryonic research would yield a much better promising result and that 10 out 14 would go for embryonic stem cells research instead at this point?

You gotta be kidding me?

*sigh* the anti stem cell crowd are going to crazy lengths in an attempt to slow down stem cell progress in America. They have done a good job, America is now ~5 years behind other countries.

I have nothing against even embryonic stem cells, but those are only useful for studying, not treating any diseases(they just become tumors) adult stem cells is where it's at.

No... she's implying that the majority of our tax will be spent on embryo stem cells and that isn't true.

I'm waiting for that conservative we all know that has been so supportive of stem cell research in other threads to find fault. It will just provide more evidence of his hypocricy.

Don't believe in embryonic stem cell research? Don't use any of the cures that result from it.

Embryonic stem cells have never been used to cure anything. And I am not against research with them, they just are not going to cure anything.

Deafdude is right , they just become tumors from everything I have managed to read about them.

That may be true. If the research is prohibited, we'll never find out. Not that I'm going to volunteer to be a guinea pig. :hmm:
